I find it very hard to believe...........
I have only gotten over 300 miles per a tank once........I mean barely!
And it took about 9.5 gallons to fill up.......

yeah sorry but i can't help but be skeptical about this. getting 48mpg would mean you're getting an additional approx. 30% mpg out of your motor if you assume that other fits are getting around 37mpg! if it's true, then i am jealous. are you sure you reset your trip odo when you think you did

Last week I got 49mpg on one 40 mile trip. I've also had in-town trips in the low 20s or worse. Conditions make a big difference.

I don't doubt it. I usually calculate my mileage and have so far never gotten below 32...that was driving about 80mph most of that tank. I drove to my sister's wedding back in feb after having just gotten the car and got 40.5 on the way down and 41.5 on the way back. I did 65mph the whole way with gentle acceleration, so I see how it could happen. HOW you drive it makes a huge difference. Congrats!

I believe. I sometimes got 53+MPG out of my unaerodynamic Ford Festiva. Tho the Fit has much more HP & weight, if you can figure ways NOT to use the HP, then you can set sail without running much fuel thru the engine for sure. Those 35MPH towns & slow people.... if there weren't any stoplights & you kept a steady gas pedal behind those slow people can help your MPG a lot. As for the hills....I can take my Dodge Caliber with continuously variable ratio transmission over 4000 foot mountains & get almost 10% OVER the EPA highway estimate. So hills...if they are shallow, might not hurt gas mileage as much as people think.

ive observed through this forum numerous variations in gas mileage in all sorts of areas, but has anyone whose obtained superior or inferior results had their odometers professionaly check? there's that whole deal with 06/07 civics and 07 fits with overestimated mileage + increase in warranty etc.etc. I would like to obtain some clear cut results in what our vehicles should actually be making. The empg has been lowered quite a bit and I'd like to know some averages/medians/means. Lets solve this once and for all folks.
