A lot of people in this thread have mentioned the electrical shock issue on cold, dry days- that is, getting out of the car generates friction that creates a shock when you touch something metal on the outside of the car.

A solution I have found is to open the door while you are still in the seat, brace yourself for exit by holding your hand on the roof (or the metal part of the door) of the car and exit without losing contact with it. That way, you continuously discharge the static and generate no sudden spark. I haven't been shocked yet doing this- and I used to get shocked a lot.

The shock issue is often caused by low rolling resistance tires. I had this same issue with my 2000 Civic SI, and the shock problem did not go away until I replaced the original tires.

I stole the following quote from a RAV4 site where they were discussing static shocks from the car:

"You might want to also check the type of tires on vehicle, if they are 'low rolling resistance' tires they may have more of a silicone base instead of a carbon base and this does not allow the static charge that normally builds up on a object moving through the air to disperse through the tires. The silicone base is more of an insulator than the carbon base.

Unfortunately, I don't have a list of what tires have the silicone base and what have the usual carbon base in them.

I just know that Michelin had a series of 'low rolling resistance' tires that came as factory standard on some recent (2-3 year old) model Hondas and they would not allow the static buildup to bleed off into the ground through the tires, so when you stopped at a toll booth and touched the tollbooth operator, the operator would get a real big shock."

it just needs some balls. a k-series from the factory, even 160hp would be plenty, 200hp would be fun though.

I did offer the sales manager to replace the audio/radio compartment with the navigation system; unfortunately, my request was declined. Nonetheless, he gave me a nice discount (below MSRP, that is). It was a fair trade; however I will settle with portable device (Garmin Nüvi), though.

I found some more issues.

I would just like to add mine was just under $18K OTD, not the sub-$13K bottom-basement econo car purchases, even at this day and age. At that price, I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for a few more conveniences.

Get a dead pedal from Zeta Products! I got one for mine and LOVE IT!

A small gas tank is a blessing in disguise. When you fill the gas tank full, it adds a bit more weight, but not too much. Besides, they gotta fit that gas tank underneath our rears, lol.

I am replaceing my windsheild for the 3rd time in one year. I really think the angle of the windsheild is weak, and causes breaks easy.

The smug factor is an issue. Love that episode, but so far after my first 1000 miles a bigger gas tank would have been nice and a center arm rest. Other than that I am very pleased with the car.
