VTEC engages AT 2300 RPM's 9 out of 10 unless you are pressing the pedal down with a new born baby's touch.

SO at such a low engine speed the engine isn't screaming yet and that makes it harder to hear, PLUS the fire in not burning that much due to low throttle response at such a low rpm.

I've even started the car in 2nd gear (I'm a manual) and I floored it from a stop to slowly get it to 2300 and hear something...... NOTHING! I have COld Air Intake, Cat-back Exhaust, and Light weight Crank Pulley.

The addition of an intake valve per cylinder just isn't a wild enough even at such a low RPM .

GIVE UP! Put in a K20A2 or K20A Type R and you will hear VTEC crossover! I'm just waiting on Hasport!

Yeah that's pretty much my thoughts, that it's there but the cam is geared toward eco and it's nothing to fret about. You have to admit this engine is really different that all the other vtec motors out there.

What I'm wondering is who tunes it at the factory? :P

Yes, I know a lot about engine dynamics. I can't wait to get a hold of a management system for one of these so I can 'tune' the Fit like I tuned my Integra. Although I'd have to have my boyfriend show me how he did it since he's the real tuner between us, but it's not like it's hard to understand...

In CA, they build a motor for 1) emissions 2) gas economy 3) performance (horsepower) As you can see... what you're interested in comes DEAD LAST.

I just can't believe how many different answers people have about where the VTEC engagement is. Sharkytm on the other thread seems to know what he's talking about. Someone with an owner's manual open it up and post up what it says the VTEC engagement point is.

You can have a million different answers, but the fact is, there is NO VTEC engagement "sound" to hear in the Fit...

Maybe if they come out with a cam later on, that would change things.

Damn, that makes me a little sad. My friend's '91 Sentra SE-R with 317,000 miles dynoed at 119hp completely stock and still got 25mpg. Oh well, most of us bought these cars for the economy anyway.

well, yeah...if you think the Fit has any kinda chance against a classic SE-R, youre wrong. I went up against a friend of mine, who has a 92 Sentra SE-R with i/h/e...and let me tell you...it wasnt pretty. ;(
