yea i think a lot of these members on fitfreak are actually working for Honda under the " FIT CONSPIRACY" to sell their Fits... since they advertised that it can run 30+ mpg.... lol

 

well earlier in the year i was averaging about 26 MPG, after the installation of my intake, i'm getting about 31 MPG now. Thats with mixed driving and driving spiritedly quite a bit. So i'm pretty sure if i drove conseratively i can maybe get 38 mpg.

I have an 07 Fit Sport A/T with almost 30,000 miles and I've tracked the mileage on every tank since it was new.

The majority have been over 30mpg even with the A/C on. Usually 31-33mpg, an exceptionally good tank occasionally going as high as mid 34's or low 35's.

I've kept the tires at 34psi and I run Amsoil 0W20 or 0W30 and their Ea0 oil filters with a 25,000 mile or 1 year change schedule. I also have a K&N air filter.

Last week I changed out the tires to 195/65/15 Yokohama Avid TRZ's because I could get high mileage tires if I went a little taller. These tires are supposed to be an 80,000mi tire. They also are a LOT quieter than the Dunlops and ride better too.

I calculated the % difference between my odometer & GPS to correct for the additional height and checked my mileage today with the new tires, it was 35.971mpg using Kroger 87 Octane gas for the last 3 tanks.

I know that the trend is to add taller wheels with shorter sidewall tires but the combination of additional gas mileage, lack of road noise and increased ride comfort is a plus for me.

Just reached 20,000miles (32,296km) and did use 1895.8L gasoline.

This is 17.036 km/L or 40.07 mpg (US)

It could be better, since my working way is daily 4 x 5km, a lot of the distance is done in the warm-up sequence of the engine!

 

Hmm... seeing people with good mileage makes me wonder about my Fit...

I am not quite sure how to calculate the km/L, but last full tank I only got close to 410km with the light went on. I always get gas when the light comes on, and resets the trip meter when I get a full tank of gas. I get 87 Octane for my Fit.

FIY, 7767 km when I got the previous tank, I refilled at 8177 km for 35 litres. Thats 410 km difference, divide by 35 liters, that's 11.71 km/L. I think that's 27.5 mpg.

Right now the car is just over 8000 km and 20% on the Oil Change indicator. I was told by the dealer to bring in when the percent is at 15% to get an oil change. Is it bad to get oil change this late? I mean I got over 8000 km and I haven't got an oil change yet...

 

I'm getting 32 mpg commuting and around town driving on my base AT, at 900 miles on the odo. About 2/3 of my 14 or so mile commute is highway and I leave early enough in the AM to avoid the twice-daily parking lot on 395. I think one has to lay off the gas a little more than the MT since the AT seems to shift to a higher gear sooner than I would. The AT on the highway is great though due to the lower gearing.

 

If that's just stop and go city driving your mileage is good.It works out to be 33 mpg imperial[how we calculate it in Canada]I'm still stuck on mpg not liters per 100 kilometers.

 

The previous tank I did a foot-to-the-floor (around town) test, got ~25mpg (US). This tank I did a freeway mpg run -- 360 miles/9.23g -> 39.0 mpg

I filled up right after the light came on, for some reason the pump put in 9.2 instead of 8.7 as normal.

 

Must've been slow pumping due to a full gas station? Either way, that's good mileage for both types of driving.

Generally I get around 30-32. 39-42 takes a super feather-foot and not around town -- trip to see the family and lasik center an hour away. My dad's trippin' about not needing glasses now... <- what he looks like with his special goggles for a couple days

So far I've been pretty disappointed. I've only filled up twice (~600 miles on the car) and I got 29mpg both times. Since the Fit is still new I've been feather-footing all the time. 1/2 is City, and the other 1/2 is freeway. A/C is on low only when I get on the freeway. Tire pressure from the factory is 42psi front, 40psi rear, which is higher than any other car I've ever driven in. Usually I keep it at 32psi. My 2002 Civic MT even got 31-33mpg, which is at least what I expected out of the Fit.

Is it true that MPG is better after the car has "broken in?" I hope so.

 

It'll take some time to break in. I was also getting 29 consistently until I hit 7 to 8000 miles on the odometer. Now around town I get 31-33 and 36-39 on the highway. 36 is common when running at 80+, with 39 coming with 70 mph on cruise. I measure this by calculating fuel used, filling at the same pump.

One thing about these cars when compared to the older civics, they are heavy. The price we pay, I suppose, for multiple airbags, crash worthy seats, side impact reinforcement and a 5 star crash rating. Mileage will suffer as a result and makes me wish they would wise up and bring some of the small diesels over.

 

Yes, multiple reports around here, myself included, about easier time achieving higher mpg around 7-8K miles.

I read that small diesels are on their way here with the ultra-low sulfur fuel now mandated. 2009 should be an interesting year for them.

 

Thanks xorbe, that would be great news when they bring the diesels over. A non-hybrid Fit that was getting mileage comparable (or better) than a Prius would be awesome.

 

Where are you getting your gas? Also, what highway are you travelling? I'm taking 8 for about 19 miles each way and with a little bit of surface road, I'm still only getting ~32 (only grandma's and grandpa's drive slower than me - I'm the other guy jamming up the highways!). I'm getting my gas at the NEX and Mobil stations since they're pretty close in price.

I'm filling up at the Old Town Arco typically. Most of my driving is on the 5, though I'm only 3.5 miles from work now, so the car never really heats up and mileage suffers. Still, tank after tank around town, it's 31 to 33. I also drive as smoothly as possible, limiting braking and acceleration as much as possible. No jack rabbit starts and try to anticipate traffic as much as I can. That seems to help quite a bit and after a number of drives to northern cal and Mammoth, the difference between 70 and 80 mph seemed minor.
