Wow I didn't know there was any place in the USA like that. The first time I ever saw that was in Manila, Philippines while on vacation.

Yeah, I saw the turbo kit also. I've also been reading about the JRSC kit - was that about 100 pages??!! - in this forum also. I hope that they can pull it through as it seems that they ran into a snag. Optimistically, it's just the timing of the move. Pessimistically, the kit doesn't hold up. They've mentioned that it will be 50 state legal, but no mention of when they will achieve that status. Being in CA, I need to have an exempt system. That's the one big thing about the turbo kit. It is not exempt. Wish my car were registered in FL or HI.

Being an avid Mustang reader (can't afford to buy one with gas), the factory has ponied up with factory performance parts. I was hoping Honda would do the same, but you're right about supporting a dead horse. I had also read about this being the last year for this body style. Wish I had read about it before making the purchase. The one and only year. It'll be hard to find parts and support in the near rather than far future.

Well, I'm somewhat pleased. After all of those 23-27mpg talkfulls I am now up to past 28mpg. I just recently passed the 1500mi mileage mark and I did a lot more highway driving than usual. Since I'm about to take a trip to New England over Labor Day, I should have a much better gauge of what my Fit is capable of after that. I suspect the mileage will be on a par with the people who post those higher mpg numbers.

I'll post later as an update. Oh, and i have not had the oil changed at all because I drive very little and only have 1600 miles after 5 months.

Talking Road Trip report! Amazing

So I took a road trip to the east coast from Nebraska, 1200 miles each way with a few side trips between roughly 3000 miles.
I drove 60MPH religiously for the first part of the trip. Guess what 48 MPG!!!!
Then I went 65-75 depending on the speed limit. I stayed around 43 on the hwy.
In town I get around 30mpg so this was a BIG surprise for me. I know I have a lead foot though!
Side note: One stop I accidentally got east coast ethanol (I NEVER use it at home) My hwy mileage dropped to 33 mpg... so convince me that ethanol is good....not gonna happen. Next tank got me 45 mpg.
Just wanted to let people know what happened.
Oh AND I RAN MY AIR THE ENTIRE TIME!!!
Forgot to say that I've had my Fit since June 06 so its well past the break in period! I think Im on 15k miles

Post 2008 mileage numbers

Did anyone notice that the new EPA gas mileage numbers for the 2008 Fit are much lower than the 2007 & 2006 Fits?

2008 Honda Fit - Specifications - the Official Honda Web Site

I think the difference between the highway and city (severe stop and go) mileage is the problem for most of us, though. My commute is only 2-7 miles per day (depending on which method of public transportation I take) and I believe that's why I never get good mileage. My brother tells me my car never has a chance to get the engine fully warmed up so it's in a severe gas-burning mode for that short of a trip every day. I only do real driving on weekends and I guess it's not enough to even things out.

Newflash!!! The EPA ratings are lower for every car starting with 2008 models... new "test courses" were added to the existing tests that drive harder and faster than before plus A/C usage.

My FIT summer trip report

OK - let's see if I can paste in here from Excel.

Load: 170 pounds of me and about 200 pounds of gear. No external appendages on the Fit.

Car: '07 Sport AT. Silver (makes it faster ) 2k miles on car when leaving, 5k upon return. Interesting note - at 5200 miles the oil condition indicator was still 50%. I changed it anyway.

Trip from the front range of CO to northern OH and back.

And the numbers (drum roll please)...

Average for trip out: Total 1195.4 Miles 31.2 Gallons 38.31 MPG AC/70 MPH

Average for trip back: Total 1776.9 Miles 51.92 Gallons 34.22 MPG AC/80 MPH

Trip Average: 2972.3 Miles 83.12 Gallons 35.76 MPG

I was in a bit of a hurry to get home - had the stomach flu and a sinus infection (yuk). Actually the last tank was 80 -100 MPH across the empty western KS/Eastern CO on two lanes. NOTE: There was half a tank of city driving spread over a week in the "trip back" average.

Best tank was 44.25 MPG, worst was 30.71 (headwind across MO and KS at 80 MPH). I filled until the pump clicked off plus 1 gallon every time. Across 3k miles and 10 fill-ups this gives me a good average I believe.

Poor Mileage Report

Jealous of all the people getting great anything near 30!
First Tank: 24.2
Second Tank: 25.7
A little depressing

95% city driving
I'm hoping my mileage gets better as the car gets broken in.
I've been driving like a Granny.

You think that is bad. I just calculated 22 mpg on my second tank. Most was city driving with mixed number of people and being very conscious about not overdoing the foot pedal. I wonder if this disasterous outcome is a sign of some fuel computer problem or other?

my average is up to 29. mpg around town driving

I am suprised the AT is getting nearly 30 mpg cosecutivly. My worst was closer to 20 mpg. oh yeah my car has 7,000 miles now. I use the AC 30% of the time and I drive short trips.

Low MPG

Nostalgia - I'm thinking this is normal for a new Fit. I hope others with more that 5k miles chime in and let us know if this is normal? Right now it doesn't look like my 3rd tank is going to be much better than 24/25 mpg. I'm at the half way mark and 121 miles.

Decent MPG

Never got above 30 mpg but then again, I often drive through some nasty traffic.

Hey y'all,
Best advice on improving mileage came from recent post by xorbe: "Don't mash the gas pedal. Keep RPMs under 3K. Don't speed over 65 mph." And selectively put in neutral when stopped in city traffic.

My mileage has improved from about 28 to 32, 60/40 HWY/CTY; 8K mileage. Get 25 MPG at 80 MPH with 2 adults and 2 small kids, 35 MPG at 60-65 MPH by myself, 29 or so pure CTY. Have roofrack with 58" cross-bars and cargo box on top. Will be interesting to see what happens when stuff on roof comes off.

Hills, added weight, and A/C make big difference.

Old EPA mileage figures a bit ridiculous. Revised 28/34/30 more realistic.

30 to 33 mpg

o.k. I have had my fit sport auto for 11,000 miles now and the best tank was almost 34 mpg and the worst 28 mpg I commute 60 miles per day 20% city 80% hwy at 70 mph hwy. I try to keep it under 4k when passing.
I am happy with these figures.

Driving a basic - storm silver. Got 35 mpg on the first tank, and regularly get 40 mpg when doing highway driving only (~70 mph, 300 miles). I know if the needle just gets to exactly half at about 200 miles then I'm on a 40 mpg tank. Worst tank was about 32mpg when I did all around town driving. Averaging probably about 37 with 75% highway, 25% around town. Overall I'm pretty happy with it - my gas bill fell in half vs the ol' 89 Legend.

Where do you get your gas? That may be a factor in the mpg game. In our area we have Q-Trip, Racetrac; Kroger gas. I don't play favourites.
However, last weekend: 08/26 I went to Kroger. When I filled up I added their 'mileage booster' that was on sale to the tank; I don't really use that stuff and especially on a car with only 20500k. Well as of yesterday, Wednesday, @ over 1/2 tank I had 180 miles on the trip counter. Usually I get to 190 @ 1/4 tank, hmmmm. My range is about 260 by Friday, today is Thursday. This means that I will probably not have to fill up until Saturday. I have not changed my driving habits! And still the same route as well. Did the 'milleage boost' product help? Probably not. More likely is the formulation of the gas; I have no proof.
Interesting huh?!

I get my fuel from all over (CT). Generally I stop at the 7-11 near my house - which use to be a Citgo, but they stopped being a Citgo sometime recently. I fill up at Mobil's and Citgos mostly. CT gas says it has up to 10% ethanol - I think it may use a different blend in the summer, though.

I'm intersted to see what happens when I get studded snow tires in the winter. my civic normally drops from 33 mpg to 28 mpg

Fit Sport Auto -- first 1,000 miles

Purchased my Fit August 5 and just arrived at 1000 miles. Mostly highway miles to/from work and all in D, no paddle shifter use yet. Somewhat disappointed with mpg thus far but it is improving. Tank 1 - 24.66 mpg. Tank 2 - 26.88. Tank 3 - 27.22.

Will seek mods for improved mpg and perhaps study the paddle shifter and other's habits to improve.
