For what it's worth, here's my current experience.

I've been getting a consistant figure in the range between 33 and 35 MPG driving wholly within a big city, still during my break-in period (just breached the 1000 KM barrier on Sunday), in an automatic Fit LX. Just started on my fourth tank of gas (including the dealer tank) on Monday.

I've been driving it a lot harder now (even though I wasn't exactly babying it before) so we'll see how the trend continues.

 

I've had 6 more fill-ups, and I'm still getting great mileage:

9. 36.1
10. 34.7
11. 33.3
12. 34.2

My numbers have dipped slightly, but that's mainly due to not taking an extended highway trip in a couple of months.
My overall average is 35.7 MPG. I just hit 4,000 miles, with oil life still at 50%.

 

VBP Sport AT, 5050 miles, first oil change today (50% oil life).

I'm happy with my lifetime average so I let myself drive more aggressively, which includes paddle-shifting more frequently, particularly in traffic. That being said, I have noticed a decline in MPG:

First 5-Tank Average 38.6
Second 5-Tank Average 36.1 / -6.5% from previous
Third 5-Tank Average 35.0 / -3.0% from previous

 

My last tank was 33 MPG. It's interesting to note, I've been hitting 30 liters filled almost bang on every single tank.

I'd probably get close over 500 kilometers a tank if I completely drained it (too wussy to do, besides, there's no need to in the city) which isn't shabby for a small tank in the city.

My commute one way to work is 12 kilometers. I work the night shift, and if I get exceedingly lucky, on the way back home, I can make it without stopping a single time There's about 2 lights that I'll normally have to stop for. On the way to work, I usually have to stop at least 10 times.

I'll often work up through the gears of my AT manually so I can make it shift at higher RPM that it would normally. (sidenote: is this bad for it? I was assuming that since the Sport AT has a similar function).

So yeah, in short, I'm not being a granny with my car and it's treating me with nice in city gas mileage.

 

I've had my fit sport AT for a week. On my first tank I got 27.9 MPG. I was a little dissapointed. I spoke with a friend who has a fit as well, and she said, her fit got similar results at first but after she hit 2000 miles her efficiency got a lot better. She couldn't give me an exact number but she's noticed increase fuel economy post break-in.

I got my TW Fit Sport with Automagic in April 2006. So far, I only managed to put 2600 miles on it. My Fit Sport has been giving me pretty consistent 25-26 miles per gallon. And yes, I was a little disappointed with the figure at first. I was expecting 30+. However, my old 2.0L domestic sub-compact (similar size and weight) the Fit Sport replaced could barely do 20-21 miles per gallon. With 5 miles per gallon gain, I am fairly satisfy.

My Fit Sport is pretty much bone stock with some interior accessories. I tend to like to keep the interior of my car free of clutter. Both my wife and I are consider petit (135 and 105). I do drive a bit more spirited than average Joes. I also live in a state that only sells exotic blend gasoline. As for the car itself, I am pretty happy with the Fit Sport. It does serve the purpose both my wife and I want it to. However, it's no perfect little car. As for what I don't like about this car? That's another story.

 

Yeah and the moon is made of... oops! sorry!? Have 6500 miles on mine.. I drive a lot... and it has settled in to no more than 27. Have AT and on the highway the milage is a lot better: 38 to 42! Around town don't expect much better. Maybe I'll have to find a route that is downhill both ways!

 

My mileage life has been pretty consistent. Last week I took a 4 day road-trip to Yosemite and I averaged 37.xx MPG throughout the trip up there. Its nice being able to hit 335 miles before needing to fill up and only having to put about 9 gallons. Even now, when I commute to work, its a combination of City and Highway, I still still average 31 MPG. So I am quite pleased. Now if I exceeded those figures, I'm gonna be estatic! If that ever happens.

 

What do you mean 50% oil life?

 

Your trip meter also shows your oil life left. Push it once and it shows "Trip A", push it again and it shows "Trip B", push it again and it shows "Oil Life ??%", push it again and your back to "Trip A".

It's all in the owners manual.

 

2hot thks, if mine ever gets in I'll check it out. If 5k is 50% that's where I'll be changing out my synthetic at least after the breakin with original oil.

 

You're welcome. The oil life depends on how it's driven, conditions, lots of things. Mine was at 6600 miles when it hit 15% that's when mine had it's first oil change. According to Honda service you should wait until the maint. minder light comes on before the first oil change and that will be at 15%.

At that point the light comes on every time you start the car. They don't want you changing the factory oil too soon. I had my tires rotated when I had the oil changed and they use a synthetic blend so if it goes 6000 between oil changes I'll rotate the tires with each oil change.

I only have about 600 miles driven.

Took a FIT Sport AT for a drive. Got 31 mpg in mixed hwy (75%) and urban driving (184 miles on a day trip). Drove about 65 to 70 mph on the highway.

Later on after broken in maybe I'll do better.

Highway ride was OK, not bad for a small car.
Seat was OK but a little uncomfortable for my bad back after an hour.
Rear seat legroom was good for passengers.
Easy to park and drive.
Sport drive with paddle shifters are good but require more work to use.

Overall a fun car to drive. I'd expect about 30 to 35 mpg for general use with the automatic transmission.

Any mods to your car you havn't mentioned?

Where in the world do you fill up on gas? I suggest a check into their fuel metering systems at the pump. Try driving out of state and fill up.

We all know the spec on fuel tank is 10.8 gal, and I routinely put in 9 gallons (no top off) when the needle is on E and the low fuel annunciator is illuminated. Even so, most 'top off' action would only add about .5 gal or so in my opinion. So how in the world are you getting 12.6 gals into your car? Fuel cell???

Something ain't right about this.

 

I drove mine a couple of times to where the car began to sputter on empty. I ended up putting 10.5 gallons in to fill it, so I also agree in some misinformation.

I have got gas in Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Ohio. I've used BP, Chevron, Speedway, Jr. Food Mart, Minit Mart, Shell, whatever...

I've said it before - maybe I got one with a rubber tank or something!!!

What is the VIN production # of the car? When did you take delivery?

I seriously doubt Honda has made a running design change to enlarge the fuel tanks by 2.5 gallons, but it is possible. If you have a very late (new) production car then this may be evidence...but we'd expect others to see the same thing.

As far as the mileage....what is the curt hitch for? Towing something are we?
