Here is something I wanna share for a looong time. Anyway if you look at the general trend, my mileage is going up. So I can share advice

1) feather foot is a better mileage tactic than keeping RPM low. When i realized this, and wasn't afraid to cruise at 4k (esp on mountains) my mileage was high. Shifting by revs is the same outdated ideas as upshifting using mph (rather than tach). On a flat road, cruise featherfoot at highest gear possible. Of course, on a hill, downshift.

2) I think the fit's engine continued to break down. AFter first oil chnage, i used synthetic oil. The mileage did not improve. in fact through time, it DROPPED! I was confused, cuz I was driving slower. After my 2nd oil change, the oil was *pitch black*. Blacker than the first oil change. Afterwards (i am cheap so I used cheap oil), I got high mileages I never seen before, like 35 or 36mpg. I think the Fit continues to break in for a long time.

3) K&N filter. When I first installed this, I had no results. No whistling. I realized by exp and asking, that it takes time to break in, especially because the fit's filter is so small. Now I feel the benefits of the filter (it might have attributed to my mileage. I don't know since it's been a long time).

4) weather. Cold air is usually good for the engine because cold air contains more oxygen content per volume. When it rains, although the air is colder, water creates rolling resistance on the wheels. In addition, when it's cold, the tires need tiem to heat up and reach their pressure, so for the first few miles, you're tires are low in pressure. It also might have attributed to low mileages during wintertime (between first and second oil change).

I'll update the log

I keep my mileage log at Gaslog data for 2007 Fit LX MT.

I'm still unsure about this. Some people say it's better to accelerate fairly hard (but not WOT, so it stays closed-loop) to reach cruising speed sooner. I plan to test it in the spring.

Cold air? In California?

My bro taught me this too. I admit I never tried it. He said floor it always, and keep RPM low. He said they say this on the insight webpage. I guess i'll try it. note i comment it on my log so it'll be useful to test whether my featherfoot high rpm or lead foot low rpm is better.

You are getting way better numbers than me, so I'll give it a shot.
