Swapping 2015 Honda fit Auto with 2015 fit manual at a used dealership.
Basically, I had a '15 fit LX 50k miles. I've found a lot of great deals, and I'll use one I'm interested in.
I found a '15 fit LX 70k miles, $9.5k. I can trade in my value at 7k, but I assume that would go down after inspection (there's nothing wrong with my car, but I assume this price was to entice me.)
Basically, if I trade in the vehicle and buy it outright, I would get the same year, same trim, more miles for $3.5k, which is expensive.
Their car is in a color that lowers resale value, and it is a manual which lowers resale value. I have a high resale value color and the more desirable auto trans for a used lot. My car has 20k less miles. I was wondering if these things matter to the dealership and would put me in a position to negotiate, or do close to a flat even trade.
However with just a few thousand dollars out of pocket, the dealership knows I wouldn't finance. In this case, would the dealership not be interested in me as a customer anyways?
I just want to drive a manual fit every day!

Trading In A Fit Automatic For A Stick
Negotiating with a used car dealer probably won't happen in your case. I wouldn't expect this used car dealer to give you some money for your automatic Fit for their stick. Your Fit automatic having an advantage of lower miles than their Fit stick won't matter to a used car dealer. Just make sure their Fit is in good working condition before you do this potential deal. Bring a friend with a bit of used car knowledge with you for their advice. If it has any issues just walk away. I prefer a stick too. When I got my new 2015 EX at the Honda Dealer I made it crystal clear i want a stick.
