sport vs. base...is it worth the extra money?
I'm getting ready to buy my 4th honda for my household, (yes, I know I have addiction, I struggle everyday). And, I love this site for information. (visit it several times a day).
Does the extra cost for the sport really support the extra cost?

IMO, only major thing about the manual sport vs the manual base model is the cruise control and the oem body kit and spoiler.
The sport also has the extra two tweeters and 200 watts for the headunit, the aux in jack, fog lights and the alloy rims.
BUT, I am biased hahaha.
It is only around $1500 more for the sport so it isnt a bad deal for all you get. I just didn't want to spend an extra $1500. I am poor.

The reason why I got the Sport model is because I know I won't be lowering the car nor changing the rims in the time being. So the extra money is worth it since the car looks even better than it is already. And I am pretty satisfied with the stock sound system as well.

GET THE SPORT, it is worth it, when you break it down to every feature independently, it will cost more than $1500 (for OEM equipment, which is typically more appealing imo and to KBB). I had the '06 civic EX, the FIT's sound system is better than the civic's (shame but good for me). The wheel's are more appealing to me than the civic's bland non-glossy rims. Cruise control (should you live with anything less?), security system (you shouldn't live without it) and the fogs, even my civic EX was envious. Do it right in the beginning, save yourself from the could of, should of.... I would only recommend the base if you dislike the look of the sport and are into modding the hell out of it. Just know that modders generally spend way more than $1500 on upgrades.
Tershel, sorry I can only advise on the US pricing.

It all depends on what Sport features you like, and what it would cost to add them to the Base model.
I don't particularly care for the "aero" package (the spoiler is OK, but I will ask the body shop to give me an estimate on removing the skirts when my car arrives), but the AVAILABLE Sport features I definitely would want, if added to the Base, come to within $222 of the premium for the Sport. And that does not include cruise control or the automatic transmission with Sport mode, which are not available as options.
It was a no-brainer for me to choose the Sport automatic over the Base automatic. I can live with the skirts.

IMO, it's always worth paying like 1.5-2k extra for a sport/special edition car. If I had the choice I'd get sport. Upgraded stereo system is always a plus, I got a SE 05 Civic, sound system is good. And the sport comes with a lip kit right? That's a def plus, looks sexier. Then, in long run if you don't get the sport, you might want the kit...and it'll cost you some money. So really, I think you're saving money.
And looking at other posts it comes with fogs. Def plus.
Comes with alloys, if you don't like em...sell em and buy new rims.
Then, a security system. Def can't go wrong with that.
So you're getting Lip kit, alloy rims, fogs, sound system, and security system for 1500 extra. And if you got the base and wanted those later, it would most likely cost you more than 1500.

The base FIT is the better value. If on a budget it is better.
But for most of us we have trouble getting enough FITs into dealerships and it seems most of the time that the FIT that does arrive is going to be a FIT sport with Auto transmission.
So if you don't mind waiting a really long time then you would be best off trying for a FIT sport with AT of any color.
Those waiting for any manual transmission would be still waiting depending on which dealership they are working with. Only those dealerships with highest volume have a chance of getting any manual transmission FITs regardless of base or sport models.
I have seen a base FIT with auto transmission and that is pretty good but pretty basic. If you know you will be changing to an aftermarket stereo and wheels then that would be a good choice.
If you would rather just have everything on the FIT from the start and not have to worry about stereo upgrades and larger alloy wheels and such then the Fit Sport makes sense.
Honda doesn't allow options individually so you get all or nothing. Your choice but both the base and Sport models are fine. I think the Sport is worth the extra and also less waiting is nice.
If the car is for rough drivers the base has durable 14" wheels not the nice 15" alloys that can be scratched up.
Both models are highly marked up in my area about $2000-$2500 above MSRP.

The sport xtra's I like, in order
1) bigger, and alloy wheels - not cheap to buy separately
2) better stereo:
- sport can play mp3/wma disks - base just plays regular cds
- sport has external aux in for your ipod et alm (though (I think) the ipod link can be connected to either
- more power
- more speakers
3) cruise
4) Keyless entry
I don't really give a hoot about the body kit personally, but I do think it makes it look a bit better. Also the leather wrapped steering wheel.
If you get an auto, (not me!), you also get the paddle wheel shifters.
For the extra $13xx extra dollars (US), I think it's well worth it if you're not going to mod it much. As somebody else said, if you planning on changing the wheels and adding your own body kit, i.e. swapping a bunch of stuff out, then the base might be a better choice......

I have to concur,as a sport owner...the areo/skirt thing are not my style, the spoiler is ok I agree the keyless entry is a must, security system lowers my insurance, sound system is wonderful, but what I couldn't replace or live without is the cruise,I had only a subaru cruise to compare it to (it a lever thing on the side of the subaru wheel like the light or turn signal) but it has no acel and decel like the hondas have convieniently on the wheel, that means when you pull up to slower cars you have to brake get out of cruise acelerate manually and then reset. The honda cruise allows you to acelerate and decelerate convieniently and never leave cruise as you hit the open road which is the purpose of a car that get great highway mileage for me.

Well i really like the kit on the sport...it really gives the car character more than the base...alot of people that i have talked to have seen the base model and have said its not as good looking as the sport...also you must consider if your into performance the sport will handle better than the base due to the better tires it gets...those dunlops are freaking awesome...try getting those on the XB or XA stock!!!

I always take the highest model, that way I don't end up wishing I had X option. And if you can get a manual Sport, I have a feeling they will have a great resale value.
I also prefer the darker seats offered in the Sport and only one key lock on the outside.
