Question Remote (auto) Starter for the Fit?

Anyone get a remote starter installed on their Fit? I'm picking up my Vivid Blue Pearl Sport Auto Fit next Saturday and I'm already starting to think about what I plan on putting in it. I always wanted to have a remote starter in my car!!!

Any suggestions on which ones to get, which ones are compatible. I don't really want to carry around more than one remote so I would prefer if it worked with the factory keyless entry.

I've heard Compustar systems are bomb if you can find an experienced installer that works with them. You can find awesome systems online for like $200 on froogle.com too.

That's another question too. How do I find an experienced installer.? I heard you could really damage your car if the you don't know what you're doing and that's why I'm not doing it myself.

Are all Compustar systems good? As long as it won't hurt my car and won't break I don't need anything fancy.

Try have an authorized Honda dealer install the remote starter (If Possible). They love blaming third party installations for anything that goes wrong in your car. You don't want to void the warranty of your Fit.

Find an authorized dealer, they are all certified by compustar to install them.
Wait until the mid march, they are coming out with a new
updated products, with 6000Ft range.

I asked this question when I first picked up my car too.

My local BJ's Wholesale Club had a DIY kit for under $100 - I never did find out if it would work or not...something about the chip in the Honda Key or something like that. I still want one.

I had a remote start installed in my 03 Nissan Xterra SE-S/C by Best Buy - great for those freezing cold mornings when the vehicle is covered by 6+ inches of snow!

well if you want to do it, you're going to need to remove the immobilizer that is within the ecu and the key of the fit, otherwise, it wont work

not sure about compustar for a fit but they just installed a bypass in my rsx, no need to remove anything, didn't even need to give up my spare key. your stock immoblizer still works should you decided to put the compustar in valet mode (which turns the compustar security system off)

I'm using compustar also with the 1way FM alarm. I like it so far.

There are Immobilzer bypass kits on the market for like 35 bucks that bybass the transponder only during remote starting.... I just installed on in my MT Fit. worked like a champ. Very easy to set up 1 jumper. turn the key on move the jumper from position A to position B. done

i'm curious to know if the bypass will actually weaken the stock security since you are able to start the car without a coded key making it possible for someone to start your car with the right code

Well your bypass is activated by the alarm, so if you don't remote start it then the stock immobilizer is still active.

i had the viper/hornet alarm installed as a dealer option at the time of sale. more than happy with it. warm ups in the jersey cold weather is great. car warms up rather quickly, so only need to auto start the car 5-7 minutes before getting in. alarm offers peice of mind. only regret is that they installed the red alarm light in the blank plate where the jdm coin slot goes. i'll be looking to reroute the wires to the oem light in the gauge cluster so i can install the coin slot later.

My understanding of the Remote start and the immobilizer is:
1)the immobilizer is bypassed to allow a remote start, alarm is still active
2)deactiveate the alarm to gain entry into the vehicle
3)the key with the factory immobilizer chip must be present, in the ignition and turned to the 'on' position for the car to be driven
4)If there is no key present and the car is attempted to be driven then the car will shut off.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
Compustar 2way systems are great, many many functions. even a timer to tell you how long you car has been warming up for and if there were any problems with the start. (like if you left it in gear or it failed to start)

I will be getting a compustar system for my FIT in the spring as I opted out of remote start and keyless entry for my fit from honda. (the compustar system would only be a little bit more$$$ and worth every cent.)

just my opinion.

you can get remote start function from honda? that's news to me

regards compustar, it's pretty much impossible to leave the car in gear and auto-start it because you have to exit the vehicle while it's still running. Also, sometimes you will only get 1 way signal on the pager if your car is too far off.

hi etong! i'm on crsx too

theres several ways to have the remote start. heres 2:

-compustar-with all the nifty features and security
-just a plain add-on remote start module that will remote start your car via factory remote.

either option, they'll need the DEI immobilizer bypass module. it doesnt render the car "vulnerable" at all. If a thief really wanted to steal your car, they'll tow it.

maybe one of these days, i'll do a writeup for a DIY on remote start/alarm install using Compustar and/or add-on.

its not that hard really. there are guides on google that if you searchhard enough, theres wire diagrams showing the location of all the wires you need. (ie. door trigger, horn, 12v ignition source, etc)

if you know how to read instructions, cut/strip wires, know + and -, you're good to go. i recommend heat shrinking connections but its not always possible. so wire tape comes in handy too. i am against crimping wires. wrap-tie-tape works better. just practice on your method of taping. 3M wire tape is good tape, quality of wire tape matters as well.
