Axle issues

Hey you guys I need some insight on this issue. Yesterday I hit a low island while turning left onto a main street. I completely damaged the rim, but now I am worried about my front axle on my drivers side. When I first drive the car in the morning I feel like I am driving over two small bumps but after as soon as I drive there is no more bumpy feeling. There are no grinding sounds or clicking sounds if I turn the wheels. Just wanted to know if my axle is alright to drive on. Thanks in advance.

Smacking a rim is not likely to effect the axle. Knock it out of alignment, yes. Did the low island hit or scrape any other front end or engine parts or was simply the rim damaged.

Unless the hub took a direct hit all should be well.
Have you checked the tire for a sidewall bubble? that might be the bumpy feeling.
