tire changer

its expensive to mount and dismount tires. I was wondering if anyone used this before? im somewhat mechanically inclined. only done tire changes on a press (in school). never did use this before. is this okay to use w/ aftermarket wheels? any input would be appreciated.

I've never used one of these, it looks like a pain in the ass though. Mounting and balancing isn't that bad price wise. Even if you mount your own rubber you'll end up paying someone else to balance. I paid a shop $50 to mount and road force balance all 4 corners.

I just paid discount tire $12 to dismount 4 tires. Interested to see what others have to say.

I recently paid $50 to have a set removed, new ones installed and balanced. No tire disposal fee I sold them. But that machine looks like a real pain. Most of our tires are pretty small 15"-17", not much room for streching with just a manual machine like that.

that machine may mount them (and diffucltly at that) but it still wont balance them. so, not worth it.

yah, mounting is just 1/2 the solution. you'll need to balance them and nothing like getting them balanced on a nice hunter roadforce.

just pay up and get it done professionally.
