I appreciate everyones responses even though some were douche..i jus wanted to know wtf they were..wasnt asking for a big ass debate.

If you careful when you remove them you can always put them back on..... The insulation pad is a sound deadener that I am sure you will want to put back on after driving for awhile with it off.... The air intake duct is essentially a cold air intake and a real improvement over the stock intake on the GD3s.... During the warmer months the under hood temperatures are very high, power loss and a decrease in fuel mileage is going to suffer with out that piece.... It won't kill anybody if you remove them carefully and you can always share with us what driving without them was like.

Go ahead and remove an essential part of your intake because it looks ugly when you open the hood, and then go and be an ass to everyone on here like a true uppity newb and then go and fuck yourself.
