Does the manifold cover reach 200 degrees F?

I seriously doubt it. Take a look at all the wild paint work in the engine cover thread, barely half of them use any kind of high temp paint and no one has come forward saying "it melted" There is an air gap of an inch or more between the cover and the intake, (which is plastic anyway) so it stays quite a bit cooler than the metal bits of the engine.

Two heads are better than one!
I was thinking alone the same lines.
+1 Rep for you.

haha yeah i had the same question about mine when i did it a while back but i just went ahead and did it. it was some krylon paint that was something like 200F but it still looks the same. no wear or fading at all

But now that its cold out, I have to wait for warm weather!
She won't let me paint it in the house.
(I love the smell of solvents, but she doesn't!)

actually it may not melt before depending on plastic
Comparison Table for Plastics.
but with the 200 degree paint u should def be ok with paintin the manifold cover..

looks good. what paint did you use.
as for the plastic melting...... i would check the foam spacers that hold up the cover because they actually touch the intake manifold and if anything would melt it would be them first.

The Rust-Oleum color is: 7251 Cobalt Blue Metallic
Its NOT perfect, but it works well with VBP.

It is a very professional finish.
Its like the LED ignition light ring. The hole it shows through is just adequate.
But, instead of hacking-up my steering column housing, I'll let it alone too.
