Honestly... the Fit's stock engine is a 1.5l and the K20 is a 2 liter... does the K20 really weigh that much more? Besides you could put on a lightweight hood, fenders, and wheels to offset the weight gain. I just don't see how the weight could make that much of a difference, especially if you lighten the front end a bit, I imagine it'd almost weight close to stock.

The K is a lot heavier due to all the stuff it comes with including, but not
limited to, a bigger trans, block and head. All those little increases add up.
Even if it is as much as 200lbs, which I'm thinking it might be. In real world
driving situations I'm thinking it's worth the trade in extra pounds. But don't
expect to get around the cones any faster that's all.

If anyone has real #'s I'd love to see them.

I'm still waiting for an easier way to install the computers.
I don't like the idea of running two, and to pay
for someone else to wire all that stuff. Sheeeit!

yeah from some of the shops i've talked to the wiring is what jacks the install price up. BUT from what i've seen the weight differnce is only sometihng like 100 or 150lbs max. One of the guys on here weighed it and i'm just too lazy to go look it up.

There you go. In most applications the weight gain is negligible. In fact, I'd argue Honda should have released a K20 Type R/Si Fit in the first place.

It seems people generally believe dropping a K20 into a fit completely ruins it's balance and handling. After looking into it, a K20 only weighs about 400 lbs even with the tranny. I'd say it's probably only around 75 lbs heavier than the stock L15, 100 lbs at the MOST.

Again, any weight gain could be easily offset with lighter hood, wheels, suspension, etc.

As you can see from the pic, the engines are much more closer in size than you'd think. (K20 on the right, L15 on the left)
