Painted Engine Cover

Painted Engine Cover
I'm looking to do a cool scheme on my engine cover. I was wondering what all you guys are using to paint it? Is it something special or can i just use like car paint and then hit it with a clear when i'm done? Because the guy at the body shop was saying that because of the heat and the plastic that the paint might crack or fade. thanks

I used a duplicolor mirage kit on my b16a valve cover about 2 years ago it looks good better than some of these other valve and engine cover I see in mags and at shows, and I didnt even grind all of the chipped coating that was on there from stock cause it was just taking to long and I couldnt leave my head exsposed like that when the car was sitting outside in the winter I had like half a kit left over so I painted my shift knob and the tray that sits under the ash tray with it to still had a little left I was going to use when I figured it would start to flake cause valve cover would get hot but it never did so I wouls say try one of there kits like 15 buck and it shifts color. Or try Passwordjdm.com out they have carbon cover for like $130 might look nice if you already have T1R carbon air box
