And as for the original topic, I notice that I have to be extra granny like when the car is cold to keep it smooth as each gear initially bogs way down. I dont have to but I dont like to rev too high when its cold. Once warmed up though it wants to be changed quicker to be smoother.

Welcome to Piloti <=you can get them direct, or you can find some over at
Griot's too. starting out, try the G16's, they are cheap ($80) and yet very comfy to
drive, very accurate pedal control, and also great as your walking shoes
too.

Kenchan- how do you like the piloti's that you got, as I said above I just got the Prototipo's. But I am also looking to get the spydersv's and the Mulholland II's. Do you notice much of a difference between the ones you have?>>

there is difference between the G16's and Monaco's. G16's are softer
and very comfy to drive on. Monaco's are a little stubborn when new
but once they break-in it's very nice. ive heard people liking the
mulhollands. i was going to get the spyder in blue originally, but

thats wasting gas. just drive slow and clutch-in very gently
until the water temp lamp turns off. in my area it's about 10F in
the morning right now.

I idle-up every once in a while (much more so with classic cars) but I have found on more recent hondas that when I do that the idle feels lumpy for a significant duration of that particular trip. I tend to only idle-up 4-8min with the classic cars and really only about 1minute with the fit it heats up really quick and it already drops a bit in that time. If I were to just get in it and drive it right away one cold morning (relatively speaking socal cold 50F hahaaa) it only takes two minutes to feel pretty normal.
This car warms and cools much faster than any other vehicle (cars only) that I have noticed.

What about the clutch? How do you work the clutch? I noticed, when I first drove the car, that my best shifts were when I put the clutch in, shifted, then letthe clutch out slowy(ish) and pausing for a second in the middle of the clutch's travel, then letting it come all the way up.

im kinda surprised none of you newbs have asked doing reverse
up your driveway cause that's probably the hardest.... or the
newbs have not challenged yet? lol
for reverse going up a curve, i do a half-clutch engagement and
tap the throttle gently and repetitively to gain momentum and
bumpty bump up the curve going backwards. it's a little tricky
at first. then continue on back while tapping the gas until the
desired parking spot on my driveway. the steeper and shorter
the driveway is, the harder it gets cause you only get a few
solid half-clutch engagements before your clutch heats up.
if you have a long drive way it's easier cause you can do a
full engagement in reverse.
worst you will do is either stall or smoke the clutch. your goal
is to keep your half-clutch engagement constant, and tap the
gas while keeping the clutch temperature low. you should not
smell the clutch at all when you park.

I've found that when driving fast to get up to speed, it's not real smooth no matter what I do. But when driving slow in the city, I will stay at the desired shift point (3,400) for a few seconds then shift. It keeps my transition smooth and keeps my MPG high.
On another note, when I shift not so smooth and look over at my wife while her head is bobbing back and forth, I just ask her "So are you getting into the mood yet?"

i dont think newbs know if powershifting is okay for the car or not.
thus just mentioned why i wouldn't recommend it.

i dunno if anyone has posted similar but im not a very good manual driver. I've noticed though FINALLY why i keep making the car kinda bounce when i shift gears. SLOWLY LET GO OF CLUTCH! it has to be like ETERNITY for me to make it smooth, this along with remembering to very smoothly let off the gas as you clutch it in when shifting. I haven't had much chance to drive my Fit yet so once i can (insurance comes) i'll tell you if my "developing technique" works well or not, Sadly it might not since im not an excellent driver or anything
