paddle shifting or just auto

nope you can keep on the gas the whole time. I never thought of putting it into S and then not touching the paddles, ill have to try that.

I alwas use the sport shift on my Auto but I have yet to use up a full tank so im not sure on MPG yet. I love having something to do with my hands when I drive. I cannot do a Manual though. My left leg is gimp and no matter what I do it doesnt react as fast as I ask it to.

I didn't know that the AT will eventually shift for you even in S mode. I'll have to try that.

I usually don't use S for the same reason I didn't get an MT - the AT is very responsive, and usually manual shifting is more a chore than a pleasure for my daily drive. I most often use the paddles (well, one of them) for engine braking on a long slope, when I don't want to brake.

i think most cars do that, i believe in the tsx with sports shift it does that as well, it shifts if you forget to press the paddle

but does it shift at regular RPM's like 3-4k if ure driving normal in S? Or does it just keep going to Redline when the gas is being feathered. I wish i had my fit to try this =[

Seriously, you bought a 109 HP car, don't get me wrong I love my 2 FITS but me and my girl also drive 100 miles round trip to work. If I wanted a race car I would not have bought a FIT, that is why I have the Mustang in the garage. The only good use I have found for the paddle shifter is down shifting to make a pass without having to completely floor it. I think it works well just to raise the RPM a little more and make your pass then put it back in fifth. C'mon people cosmetics I understand, but without boost or a swap, your car will always be slow.

yeah our cars are slow....but atleast with the paddles we can lie to ourselves and pretend our cars are .000001 seconds faster than it really is

I dont think paddles shifters have anything to do with speed? Its more about the raised level of control they deliver to the driver. I dont care if they are in a Smart or a Ferrari. Yes, i agree the Fit is slow, but what does that have to do with paddles? The paddles in the Fit offer the same thing they do in ANY car with them, more control of the rev range, on up shifts and down shifts.
