Anyone ever been pulled over by the cops and ticketed for tint?

I was talking to the guy at the tint shop and he told me of a customer who put 5% all around (except windshield) and he was back soon to have it all removed. Cops pulled him over and instructed him to bring proof of removal to court (this included a receipt showing that he had it removed).

 

Haven't had any problems yet with 35% on the front 4 windows and 20% on the rest. I think only having 35% in front definitely helps.

 

Not yet. Hopefully never. Any tint in the front is illegal in California. But I'm willing to take a risk of having my Fit tinted at 50% four fronts and 20% five rears.

5% is too dark for the fronts. It's too risky of getting pulled over.

ive never been pulled over for it either...i have 20% smoked tint(which appears darker than 20%) on all windows except the windshield. 35% is the limit in md, and cant tint windshield at all except 6 inches on the top or so. going to do the windshield slightly tho just to help keep it cool inside/protect my dash.

ive talked to a cop here before about it and he said they really start pushing the tint tickets during winter because everybody has their windows up. i just keep an eye out for cops and if i do spot one im going to pass i normally roll my windows down enough so he my face inside the car(i dont do it in front of him tho..that would be stupid).

 

It was me, but it wasn't in my Fit, it was in my Integra years back. Don't ask me what percent as I had the car 17 years and don't remember. It was a basic case of a cop not having anything better to do with his time. No big deal, shit happens, I moved on.

I was ticketed for tint in my '99 Mercury Cougar. It was probably 20% all around (I bought it that way, so I'm not sure). It depends on the laws in your state. I was always told that I probably wouldn't have any problems so long as I wasn't doing anything else (i.e., I wouldn't get pulled over just for the tint, but if I was stopped for something else, they'd certainly cite me for the tint as well). Didn't play out that way. I was pulled over strictly for the tint, and I had to return to the courthouse/police station with the tint off to have the ticket signed. As long as I had it removed, there was no charge (what they call a "Fix-it Ticket").

 

i had my windows tinted blue in my taur-ass. got pulled over a few times, not for the tint. i always would notice the cops eyeing the tint, trying to bust me for it.

never did.

when i get back to AZ, i might tint the fit blue. it's legal there, not in CO.

Yea I have 35% in the front and 15% in the rear haven't got pull over yet, around where in live (newport beach) everybody tint there front, plus i was talking to officer cuz he saw coming out my fit during my lunch and i was talking about my car and how cool the car and all the other stuff and I was talking about the whole deal about the tint and he said for him if he can see through your tint he just let you by. I was cool =)

NYS is so restrictive fellow FitFreaks. Kill Me !

A cop got killed recently when he walked up to a tinted car and his partner got shot in NYC. So now, some state senators want to ban all tints. They are proposing legislation that will require Tint checks to be part on NYS auto inspection. They also want to require that tint shops record name, license plate and %age tint of their customers. They also want to prosecute tint shops that install illegal tint. And all kind of other crazy ideas.

This state sux eggs most of time folks.

hhmmm, I was wondering the same thing too.

Does anyone know what percentage the back winidows on a fit have? I have the factory tint and would like to tint the same percentage up front so it could look even and not be so hot in the daytime.

anyone know this?

 

Factory tint? I never saw that option listed anywhere for customers to select.
Again maybe that option isn't available in our police state (I mean NY)

 

Yea I never heard of factory tint, must be the dealer tinted the windows them self ???

Just got mine tinted yesterday, 20% all around I live in NJ and (suprisingly) haven't gotten pulled over yet, considering the legal aftermarket tint is ZERO! We'll see how long it takes though... i give it another day lol....
