K20 awd fit

I have a friend in my town that just picked up an 08 sport with a blown engine. Hes going to be doing a k20 swap out of an 03 civic si and run boost. Hes been pondering the idea of importing the rear drive components off an awd fit and making his own driveline. Is this possible? I know a lot of people talk about doing this but keeping the l15. It seems like doing the kswap would be much easier since you can run the awd transfercase on the manual transmission

He might want to investigate some of the aftermarket electrics that are available to turn Hondas into AWD.

He might decide that it makes more sense than adapting a Honda rear drive setup.
