Swap absurdity

Anyone swap an L15 into an older civic? The only thing I see getting in the way is rust, money and mental health. The result would be a Fit-Civic or a Civic-Fit. The L15B1 looks tall, but that would be a good target to stuff under the hood to take the place of a worn out D16. The D16 isn't bad, but the L15B1 is newer and doesn't have as many miles. i'd probably try to install Fit mirrors on the civic, just to keep it more Fit-ish.

Hasport might be working on this.

I don't think the Fits 1.5l is considered a particularly desirable engine. Isn't there a civic 1.8 l series that would be better?

Quite frankly I would prefer the simplicity of a D series to anything currently on the market - new car is one thing but if you're going to be constantly wrenching it a d series is just about ideal. Maybe its getting hard to find parts, I could see that.

Might be working on it? The Fit has been in North America for a long time. Hasport makes their mounts for the displacement/horsepower crowd usually.

The L15A (and later) have a number of positives compared to the D, including better mileage, good power, lighter weight. a cam chain and as you mentioned - parts availability. The K20C2 from the latest Civic is actually lighter than the R18. Not that the weight of the engine is the most important consideration but it is one. As far as I know an R18 swap is not too common but it's been done on the earlier civics, eg/ek. An L15 swap, ideally, would be a less expensive swap which is another positive.

When I first read the post I thought new turbo L series into a Fit or Civic not the NA L series.

The D series is a solid engine not sure it's worth the trouble to put in a Fit engine. It would be one of a kind though.
