Like I said, don't think there's anything wrong with exploring other options. John knows what he CAN and CAN'T get to. I don't mind being patient, but there's really no reason not to look elsewhere, especially since nothing's set in stone.

 

It just sends the wrong message IMO...I'm comfortable leaving a large deposit with JDP. There are not a whole lot of companies that I am comfortable leaving a deposit with. JDP has a history with Honda's that's documented and they're familiar to me (Honda-tech, g2ic etc). If you guys are going to start searching for other companies then count me out until I do some background checking.

 

I understand. I'm sure John from JDP understands. I'm not impatient or anything, I just genuinely would like to explore other options if it's not absolutely 100% sure through JDP.

I'm down for waiting, but if we don't get to 15.....then we probably waited all this time for nothing.

I don't see anything wrong with contacting VIS and saying, "Look, we got 10 people willing to pay $XXX for a custom carbon fiber hood...would you be interested in bringing this product to the market?"

i for one am very interested in a hood like this, but im very short on cash walmart has been cutting my hours for the past few weeks and a new semester at school is starting for me soon.

but i would like to ask, how do these group buys work =X im about 3 months new to the forum and never done anything like this haha

usually the gb's i've been in before, the list is mostly for definite buyers. but since we don't really have an estimated price or manufacturer yet, theres still time to save up.

 

Technically, this is still a gauge interest thread since a product hasn't been put up for sale. Additionally, it will take a month or longer before the first hoods are available. Therefore, I encourage you to add your name to the list.

Roddy, regardless of who ultimately makes the hood, I just want us to stay united. Our bargaining power is only as strong as the number of people willing to purchase.

Rogue would be another option...he's also a fitfreak vendor.

Nothing wrong with asking right? I looked on his website awhile back and saw the work he's done on the mini. He pretty much crafted an entire front and rear section out of fiberglass.

ya ur right, this is a gi rather than a gb so far.

i also talked to a local shop that im friends with the owners, and they get a lot of products made to their specs for the s2k, i only asked them if they can use some of their pull to do something. but we'll see if theres any luck with them as well..

If you would like me to make this after having 15 committed buyers, then let's do it. If not, then that's fine as well. As much as I would like to make this nice looking piece, I need to be sure my costs are covered or i won't be in business.

Increasing the deposit will not cover the 5 or 6 people that I will need to cover the cost of the development and mould creation.

We are still short of the requisite 15....what if:

The current 9 or 10 committed buyers pays 130% of the actual cost to cover the 5 that we are still short? Example: JDP makes each hood and they cost $450...we pay 130% of this cost (or $585) to get things going and bypass the need for 15...

Or we could continue to be patient and wait for 15...

 

BND, any other fit forum you can push our ideas into? 5 more interests hopefully is not too much if the hood gets a wider audience exposure...
