I'm the one that first had the panel shaved.

First you don't NEED a spare panel, it was cheap so I bought one and dropped it off with them. It did not cost a $120 to shave the panel... the $120 was to take a rock chipped J's fiberglass front grill with clear coat and inconsistencies in the surface, fix it, smooth it all out and repaint it AND shave and repaint the rear panel. The $120 covered all of it.

As for warranty... every body shop I've ever delt with guarantees there work and stands behind it as long as you own it.

A couple things to add... paint. Your gonna run into issues with prepainting parts because of variations in shade form car to car. I would recommend selling thing unpainted only and leaving it up to the buyer to get it painted.

I will post up pictures this weekend of how it attaches, I have the stock panel sitting in the spare bedroom right now.

Seeing as your local (I'm in Chicago as well) if you decide to make this I'll be your guinea pig if you need one. Seeing as I've swapped the panel before, I'm the only person to this point to have a stock and a modified shaved one.

I can provide high quality pics..... https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...-fit-more.html

and I know a thing or two about cars...

With that being said... I was planning on taking my original stock panel off the car to go back to the body shop to get completely shaved.... no emblem with a wiper for winter, no emblem no wiper the rest of the year. I'd be will to hold off my decision to do that and wait to see where this goes first. If it'll help the group I'll go this route over back to the body shop on my own.

Thanks for the input bud! Im 20 years old and have been doing body work for 3 years maybe a little more. Ive been doing badgeless garnishes for scions and Toyota's for a while now and ll post pictures. I rarely have a problem with paint matching.

What I'm getting at with the paint is not that you can't match it to A car, its that you can't match it EVERY car. My car is VBP, if I took the gas door directly off my car its not going to match up with every other VBP on the road. There are variances form car to car. Going off paint code you can get it close and hope its not off enough that they notice.

Oh I know that Ive been painting for years haha. Most people dont mind if its a tad off but only if its not noticeable to the general public. Only the owner of the car knows everything reall is what they say and their fine with. Id offer it painted at a cheaper price the most shops since I do the garnish here. But if they wanted it unpainted that option would be deffinatley available if they want to get it perfect. The thing is most shops cant do it perfectly either unless they blend it with the surrounding panels but some say its not worth it.

bump - more people needed - i'm going to get this (shaved) panel and then put the honda (word) emblem off a 91 accord on the back somewhere -- sick sick sick -- ha ha I WIN
but seriously people this would be a pretty unique mod that the average 40something fit driver won't do!!!

seriously, because once someone sees mine there gonna want one and so on and so on, i might get two of them anyway, as easy as it is to change out, i'll get one for summer w/o emblem w/o wiper - and one for winter w/o emblem with wiper.
but lets get it going and see more people jump on it
