If it's 5.5" wide you could go 205, 6" a 215. You want to keep rolling diameter the same so you want a size that will closely match that.

Depends on your car's suspension and alignment setup along with wheel/tire specs. 205/50R15s will work FINE on stock suspension even with a factory wheel. Just need to research a bit beforehand and be mindful of the wheel's width and offset.
General rule of thumb is with stock (not sagging) suspension you can run a 205 on a 7 inch wide wheel with an offset as low as +42mm. Lowered, with same wheel/tire size you can safely run a +45mm offset.
I personally daily a square 205/50R15 on 15x7 ET+42 wheels. For autocross, I run a reverse stagger 225/45R15 on 15x9 ET+35mm and 205/50R15 on 15x7 ET+35mm. No tire rub AT ALL.
