I'm trying to learn more about alternative tire sizing. What would be the advantages and disadvantages of switching from 175/65r15 to 195/60r15?

Those of us who changed tires with a different size than our Fits came with from Honda, did so because most tire brands offering high performance tires don't make them in the odd size of stock Fit tires. cjecpa's link explains some of the possible side effects of the changes in tread width or overall diameter, but even some minor negative side effects get you better tires than the crap ones that Honda put on all Fits.

You don't have to change tire size from the stock ones. You can buy stock brand and size tires from your dealer. But you will pay too much for noisy tires with low traction and short tread life.

 

I changed for a couple of reasons.The main reason was better handling and braking with the 205/50 along with Swift springs and rsb.

I will stick with this size even if I change wheels because of the options available in this size.
