Tire size and decal question (Mugen MF10L)

I have a new set of Mugen MF10L rims and was wondering, what would you guys recommend for tire sizing?

195/50/15? 205/50/15? Wider would definitely be better right?

What about the height of the tires then? Would 50 be the recommended standard?

Also, regarding the application of the decals, would you guys recommend just doing a dry application or actually doing the wet route? If you went the wet route, did you use just water? Water and a small soap ratio? Or did you buy a decal applicator kit?

Mind you, I know this is silly, but these will basically just be show rims that I'll slap on for car shows or local meets. They prob will not be driven around too much in fear of them getting stolen or damaged.

Need to know wheel specs before recommending anythign. Wider is not always better.

The only decals I know about are for model cars, I just used water.

Is it just for show? 195/50 will look better IMO, 205/50 will perform better. Tons of tire choices in both sizes.

Yea, it's just for show. I'll prob go with the 195/50's then.

I'm considering Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08R tires since I've read some good reviews.

I guess you have a GD?

Stock GD tire size = 195/55-15 (~887.19 revs/mile)

Between the two sizes you listed the 205/50-15 is the closest to OEM size (901.57 rev/mile) and it's ~ -1.6% off your odo. The 195/50-15 is -3.27% off.
Not sure on complete fitment on GD wheels/tires (also depends on your suspension), but the 215/50-15 are almost spot on (886.44 revs/mile), only 0.08% off (albeit wider).
Personally on those rim's I'd go with the 215's (meatier & more contact patch), if you want stretched look then I guess the 195's...

Ain't nothing wrong with that, I plan on doing the same when I find my 17" VIP set... Nice wheels btw, there was a set on Honda-tech on sale recently.

Neither 195 nor 205 will be stretched or huge on a 6.5j wheel.

The 6.5j +45 is a very easy size to fit, so you should rub too much with either size tire, I'd personally go with the 195 because it'll fit the 6.5j better. Miata dudes run 195/50 on 15x7 for auto-x purposes, so its definitely not sacrificing performance to stick with the smaller tire in this case.

FTFY typing error

Yes for show 195/50 will be prettiest and there will be no stretch.

^He's got it. My apologies for the typo, I was folding laundry/typing/listening to the TV, apparently I found the limit of my multi-tasking abilities.

Is there any visible or noticeable difference when it comes to the 195 vs the 205?

205/50 will look "fatter" because the sidewall is taller than the 195/50. I don't think it would bulge much on 6.5" wheel though depending on tire construction, which is good for both looks and performance. The good thing about 205 over 195 is it will take up more wheel well space because it's taller, so it may end up looking better (less wheel gap) if your car only has a slight drop on non-adjustable suspension. If you're on coilovers you can just adjust the drop to fit the tire regardless of size.

Haha, I hate going back and forth between the two sizes but I think 205 might be better for me then since my Mugen suspension give me a minimal drop. And since it's not as low as most people, there is still a bit of a wheel gap. The 205 would def take up more "wheel gap" and make it look nicer I think.

This is 195

This is 205

Seems like there is very minimal difference. Guess I'm going with the 205's.
Thanks everyone!

Remember that what tire you get changes things too.

A 205 Federal RS-R will be closer to a 215-220 whereas a 195 Falken 512 will be closer to 185.

I have a feeling AD08R will run a little wider than the advertised 205, but will look super "racey" on 6.5. I say go for it especially with non-adjustable Mugen suspension. That actually will be a really fun setup for more than meets/shows if you ever decide to push the car

Is truth. I have run 225 RS3's, 205 Falkens, 205 Rivals and 195 Toyos... all on a 7.5"

On a 6.5" if I were going performance, hands down it would be no wider than a 195, and most likely the Dunlop Z2...

Since this is more a cosmetic plan, 205 IMO will look better, and I ran 205/50 on my 6.5" Rotas as my dailies for ever only dropped on Swift springs:

Also, OP NICE set of wheels. Easily in my top 3

I used to run 205s on 6.5 on a FWD and I felt it was much better than 195s which I also ran. Just needed to bump up the pressures to avoid chunking on the front on A/S tires that i believe came from tread squirm. I think it'd be a non-issue with AD08s.

195s on Miatas is a so-so reference, with weight bias on the Fit being so different, I am not sure if that's enough tire for the front? Also on the Fit your asking the front tires to do everything, on the Miata jobs are split.

Always in for tire debate lol

Edit: NA Miata are also ~400 lbs lighter than the GD, with much less weight over the front FWIW
