I have always put high dollar performance tires on my motorcycles and even bicyclesbut have steered away from uni directional tires for cars I have recently owned.... I have stock size Conti Pro Contact tires and being able to move the rear tires forward and the front tires to the opposite sides on the rear hubs when rotating will have me getting some great mileage out of them..... They hook up better than the stock tires did when my car was stock and are marketed as performance touring tires.
