Keep an eye out for anyone with a set of 16" Rota Slipstreams in the NJ/NY/DE or PA area. I woke up this morning with my car on blocks and all my wheels stolen.

They are practically the cheapest aftermarket wheels you can buy (cheaper even than brand new stock replacement wheels).

 

yeah but theyre rotas. thats the catch to them. theyre cheap and everyone has them. so good luck trying to spot them, thats why theyre stolen so often.

ohh man if they're was a thread for everytime someones rotas got stolen around here .. wait theres orlandoforum .... get locks and a good alarm. those rims are probably spray painted and on eg by now.. goodluck

 

Ya I doubt anyone (me, cops...) will ever find/get them back. Its just the principal. I am not mad, I know that the people who stole my wheels must have a really crappy life. Karma will come around.

I had a set on my eg back in 03, at least yours were stolen mine broke while driving down the highway @60mph=scary. O well you can get something better just make sure you get wheel locks

 

They were definatly pros because they got them off with locking nuts, they used the seesaw methhod were you only have to jack up the middle of the car to get both wheels from one side, and they didnt even use bricks they used plastic 2 liter stackers. A good lil trick to avoid this is to get four different kinds of wheel lock sets so as to have a locking nut of a different kind on every lug on every wheel, so when the go to hammer a socket over the nut it will take so much longer to keep rusing the socket and some kind are real skinny so you cant get a socket to jam ov er them to remove it. Just dont lose the lock keys

 

or just lower your car so much that they cant fit a jack under it

 

Not really they have flat jacks for sale and the factory scissor jack are pretty low fully down. I can get a jack under almost anything even if I have to use 2 jacks and start at the front or under the gas tank area. If you have ever worked at a repair shop like me then you learn lil tricks to get jacks under lowerd car. I used to have to get slammed cars up on drive on alignment rack, where the bumper is lower then the ramps. But if somebody who know's what they are doing and has the right tools, he/she can pretty much take anything off your car. Or even the whole thing

 

need an alarm with a tilt sensor... soon as they try to jack it up the alarm will go off.

 

Whoa...That's pretty bad...Have you report it to the police?...

 

now the other question is "what kind of lug nuts were they" because i know some people who use OEM lug nuts which doesnt make any sense at all really. Also what 'Rushlow' said too. Don't go cheap on alarm parts. 2way pager is the way to go.

That stinks, I have always maintained if I catch anybody steeling rims I will beat them sensless with a tire iron.

 

I am very glad they were not spoon rims. I was using Gorilla lock nuts. I thought those would prevent theft... in reality they only deter amateurs.

 

Everything you do for security for your car really is just to deter them. Only way to prevent theft is by owning a garage but who's to say when you go out somewhere it won't get stolen.

 

What is the best wheel lock out there?

 

I still like the idea of a baby monitor inside the car and the other one beside your bed. They have to be making
noise while they are removing the rims and you get to surprise them with a police escort to jail. Really sorry that someone did this to your car.

I remember when I was about to graduat high school my friend julie got a type-r integra as a graduation present, and she had a garage and they stole her car while she was home at night. I wanted to cry for her she didnt even have that car 2 mounths. When they found it 3 weeks after it was all the way in florida, it was just the dash board and engine bay, IDK what they did with the rest of it. Those 2 way pager alarms is the way to go, that and a gun

 

If they want your wheels they will get them. Wheel locks only deter amateurs and may make the pros mad. There are thinwall lock removers so different keys doesn't matter. If it comes down to it most pros use tow trucks as well. If they do they'll just take your car somewhere and take they're time. Wheel locks are almost useless.....
