your wrong with the 195 vs 205 debate, The '195' measurement is not exact and varies from brand to brand. The star spec is the LEADING street tire along with the new Toyo R1R.

Proof that the '205' number isnt always exact. And in either case the tire compound is WAY more important then width, as long as its close.

Understood, and I have read that the Falken tires are a tad on the narrow end when it comes to size comparison.

I was able to find the width of the RT-615 for a 205/50R15.
- Section width = 8.2" / Tread width = 7.6"

I was only able to find the section width of the 195/55R15 Z1 Star Spec..
- Section width = 7.9" / Tread width = ???

Is this tire so much better that one can say a 195/55 Dunlop Z1 Star Spec can out peform a 205/50 Falken Azenis RT-615
We just had a test and tune in Hawaii on tar and pitch asphalt and the Star specs hooked up way better than the Bridgestones RE 01Rs both laterally and forward bite. You can pm Raton and ask his opinion as we both drove each others cars. He also has the same RPF1s as you do. We had a buddy with Azenis who wanted to trade tires with Raton too. (I don't know why though but, I think he wasn't happy with them) Go to the Hawaii community and watch Ratons runs he actually had the fastest STS runs of the day.

Another tire to look at is the Federal 595 RSR. I was just running those and everyone was telling me the BS would be a lot better. Well it's comfy but not better. The Federals felt a lot like the Dunlops but, being they were 205/45/16 they didn't have the forward bite like the 195/55/15 did. Hey, but tire rack has they dunlops for 83 bucks plus they're shipping is way cheaper than any one else.

BTW, I had 215/50/15's on a 15x6.5in wheel with a 42mm offset. Rubbed a tad on the fronts. Did the fender liner mod and rolled the inner fender lips a tad.
Also 225/50/15's on a 15x6in wheel with a 45mm offset. No rubbing.

Even still, the Star spec have a superior compound, and will be better in the rain,

Ya I am leaning towards the star specs... I will DD my car so having the a better overall tire would be the best option, the car will only see about 4000miles a year on these tires since I ride my bike into work and our winter seasons are about 6 months long.

Hmmmm.. ya I thought it'd look a bit different.. I'm gonna stick it out with my RPF1s.

I think the HFP wheels would look a lot better on any other color besides SSM

I have +41mm RPF1s with 215/50 Gforce Sports and I only rub in the back on hard turns. I'm lowered on Eibach Sportlines.....I'm going to get 225/45 RS2s....they are the same tread width as the BFGs but are 1/2" shorter....

I agree with you. get the azenis in 205. I'm running the same and after you warm them up a bit, traction's pretty good.

DO IT!

Those are the 08 HFP's and here are the 07's

You don't need em. The wheels you got are fine, just get a good grip. I don't scratch at all in 2nd gear and I run yokohama s drives. 205/45's

I dig those a lot more than the 08 HFPs. But still I should stick with my RPF1s and get some sticky rubber.

For my RPF1's, I got Star Specs in 195, and they are wider than my other 195's, close to 205 actually. You should probably be ok with 195 Star Specs.
