Four Del Sol mags need sandblasted first, then powder coated black. Maybe flat black.
Is $350 a reasonable price?
Wadda ya think?

I have a vivid blue pearl 2008 base.
After talking to the guys at Electro-Coat, they convinced me that flat black would "kick duppa."
That's what the owner is going to do to his new Tundra chrome wheels, when he gets "around to it."

Electro-Coat is around-the-corner and down-the-street from me. I love it!
I MIGHT even get my grill garnish done, too!

Good one!
For the price you were quoted for the paint work, you could buy the equipment needed to do it yourself. The only downside is you would have to cure the paint on one wheel at a time in your oven. I can't remember the auto restoration tools catalog where powder coat supplies/tools are sold, but if you PM me, I can dig the catalog our of my library and give you the company and URL.
Then, you would have the ability to powder coat any color and any thing that comes to mind in the future.

Ah, The Isle of Manx...
I think that if I buy the blasting media, I can blast them myself and save $$$. I have a sand blaster, and compresser, but I used $hitty sand it it. Crap!
I KNOW my better-half (really, she's only 1/2 the size of me, so I think she's my better 1/4 : ) WOULD NOT agree to the use of HER oven.
Besides, I THOUGHT that once the electrode was attached to the item, and the material was reverse charged, the powder coating simply stuck on because of the pos and neg charges, that it is similar to paint?
I've rekeyed apartments when the bathtub refinisher was redoing the tub and stinks good. I like it.
Google is my friend. I will use it, but I will e-mail you for your info.
Thanks, brother!

I agree, and what happens when your powder coat starts to chip? If you paint them you can just sand them down and spray them again for a couple dorras.

$350 for just powder coating is HIGH. the highest I have found here is $55 a wheel. If you dont strip the wheel first, they will chip like Frito Lays. Painting is your best option and can be done for under $50 with all materials. I had a set I painted for 3 years w/out one chip.

invest in a hot coat system, a air compressor and a old oven big enough to fit the parts you want to powder coat. it is the best investment ever!! you can also powdercoat things for friends at a competitive price to make your money back.

I sprayed my wheels and so far they have held up through a summer and a winter so far and very very minimal damage from road debris they still look great. Only cost me like $60 for all the supplies and it only took about 2 hours to sand them down and paint them.
