Question heavy shoes

Hi all,

I installed a set of RTX Storm 17" wheels with Falken Ziex ZE912 tires (205/40/17). When changing the tires I noticed that the RTX wheels were MUCH heavier than my stock 15" rims. Does anyone know what the weight of these RTX Storm wheels are (and how they compare to other wheels). I love the looks (I got the gunmetal color), but they seem awfully heavy! Here's a link to the photos of these rims.

don't know the weight but a majority of cast 17's are pretty heavy. they add alot more material to make the wheel stronger versus the forged technology where they can use less material to make an even stronger wheel than heavy cast. my guess would be 20-25lbs a wheel+ tire. unsprung weight is the enemy.......but I too will be guilty of adding a little unsprung weight. going to to step up to 16's from my 12.4lb 15's. still havent figured out why???

Wow... that is heavy. I really notice that with the 17" rims the car feels much slower now. Kinda wish that I had gone with the 16" instead!

I rock RTX 17's as well (Poison series; Neurotoxin +45), mine are maybe about 2-3lbs more than the stock 15's.

I came to love using low profile tires, seem to take corners better without rolling over as much. It easily makes up for the extra pounds in improved cornering performance IMO.

Im running Maxxim Fourteens, and they weighed in at 17lbs each. Car feels a bit lighter on its feet than with the factory wheels. Also finally ran through a tank of gas without my wife driving, without any decrease in MPG's

heavy rims will make your car accelerate slower, your stopping distance will increase and your fuel economy will suffer
