it will only look dumb if you dont have a low enough drop to compensate for the extra little gap you will have.

like if your running eibach sportlines you should be alright

heres a picture of 205/50/r15 on some ls meshies, with tein s.techs.

i thought it looks sorta funny because it added an extra finger gap all around. people said it looked fine, but to me it made the wheels look smaller.Name: scp26.jpg

its all not that bad running 50 series though. everything about is so much better i think, stiffer sidewalls.

my next set is going to be 205 or 225/50/r15

What is the offset of your ordered 15's ? If its less than 45 mm don't count on lowering without rubbing with 205/50x15. You might get by with 195/55x15's but it will be close.

I'm running 195/50/15 with 15x6.5 rims with +40 offset and I think it looks good. I was going to go with the 50 but I was looking more at tire performance and the TireRack did and still does have a good deal on my tires, they're amazing by the way if you plan on doing anything performance related with your car, I highly recommend the 195s if you're lowering though. You wouldn't want to end up f-ing yourself with rubbing and everything.

With the 40 offset and lowering; if you lower more than 1.5" go with the shorter tire (22.67" diameter) but if you lower less than 1.5" you can go with the regular diameter 195/55x15's (23.44") with good assurance. The 195/50x15 will only have 3% speedo and od error.
