I did a ton of research on height/tire/rim size/offset.. Here is some useful stuff I found out.

Front suspension - as the wheel travels into the fender you will increase your camber. In other words, the lower you go (whether its a dip in the road or you lower your car with springs) the top of your wheel will angle into the fender.
Application - highest rim offset you can get depends on your right height. (For me, I have a 1.4 inch drop in the front, which puts the top of my tire right at the height of the fender. When I dip, I can just slide a pencil between the fender inside and the tire.) The higher your car the lower offset you can have without rubbing.
Bottom line - At my ride height, tire size, rim size, you will rub the plastic guard under the fender at +43 offset and at +40 you will rub metal.

Rear suspension - is non independent - so the lower you go the wheels stay the same camber angle (doesnt roll into the fender)
Application - your drop doesnt matter, your wheel will either go straight up into the fender or not. (I had +45mm offset without my 6mm spacer and I didn't rub, when I put my spacer in I had to roll out my fender a few mm so I didnt rub.)
Bottom line - At my ride height, tire size, rim size, your fender becomes your new bump stop at +40 offset.

Even tire sidewall style will make a difference when your that close. (curb guard or not)

For your application: Taking front and rear into consideration. In general, a 215mm wide tire will add about 5mm to each size of your tire (decreasing your offset) so I would caution you on getting anything less offset than a +45 rim because you are effectively making your setup act like a +40 offset (+45mm - 5mm). For the sidewall, a 40mm sidewall on a 17" rim makes your total diameter 99.8% the same as your stock rim and tire diameter, which is a nice thing about 17s.

Ive got tons more info about this stuff so ask me if you have anymore specific questions that I may be able to help out with. Hope this helps!

im running 215/40/17, its about the biggest u can fit in the fenders, my fit hits the metal behind the wheel-well at max lock, any wider and serious damage can happen while driving. with that being said, im pretty low so if ur car isnt slammed u willnt have this issue

Question. I have a 2010 fit sport stock. I want to use Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set to lower my car and get 17x7.5 wheels with +40 offset.
WILL I HAVE ANY RUBBING ISSUES? Do I need to get a wheel with more offset? Should I go with 17X7 wheels? Thanks in advance!

These are the wheels i'm looking at.
