Stock 15" alloys with spacers?
Okay, so I've perused the forums searching for wheel spacers to find related articles but I can't seem to get a straight answer for my specific question.
I was thinking of just slight, easy ways to improve the handling characteristics of my Fit. On my old explorer, it was 2"/3" lift fr/rr with 31x10.5 on AR 15x8 rims. I'd rub over hard bumps but I also got generic wheel spacers from my local auto shop, and between lifted without spacers and with spacers, I definitely noticed better handling.
Since the Fit is my daily driver, I'm not interested in springs or coilovers (nor do I have that much dough for something like that nowadays) but I know with the right spacers in the right application, handling can be improved upon, and I'd like that. Plus, there's the slightly aesthetic addition of a wider stance. Iv'e read on here that 3mm to 5mm spacers are the max in theory before other modifications or potential damage/premature tire wear begins to become a factor. So, is this true? I don't have the cash for aftermarket wheels and tires (grad school and the new laptop it requires has put my goals for the Fit on the backburner for now) But I'd like to do little tweaks where ever I can to help things out a bit.
So - Can I run spacers, say 3mm all around? on Factory Sport 15s? Without lug extenders? Or, what about just spacing the rears to even them out? (Although I don't think I'd see any marked handling improvement)
Thanks guys... if it's not worth it, just say so, but I know at the very least there's a handling advantage right?

I don't know much about spacers on Honda's (I ran them on my VW, which uses bolts instead of studs) and i mainly got it for the looks. I was running 20mm in the back and 8mm in the front. I didn't have any problems with it, but I wouldn't run spacers for handling, just cause I think it makes it even more dangerous. Rolling around in town with spacers is fine, but I would try to get fitting rims/tires for more hardcore driving.
If you really want to improve your handling and is tight on the money. I would suggest the Progress Rear Sway bar. Its cheap $100ish, install is straightforward, and I'm 99.99% sure it will handle better than with spacers alone.
Also, look into a set of tires, the OEM tires just takes the fun right out of the car. 205/50R15 tires can be had for cheap too! Kumho ASX, General UHP are just some off my mind that are AWESOME bang for the buck!

These H&R Track+ spacers could/should do the trick. I've seen them advertised in Grassroots Motorsports magazine in a racing environment, so I suppose they're pretty tough. As long as your lugs were up to the task, I don't think you'd have a problem.
