Just joined, live in Japan, own a 2009 Yellow FIT 'G'Model (1300cc) - have a Honda CB1300 when I want to go nuts.... The Hybrid FIT has 15" standard wheels, while mine has standard 14".
I think the 15" look much nicer (the 14" is just a lttile stumpy) and was wondering if there was any real advantage in the change? I mean, if there is no improvement in economy, handling or other... then I will stick to how it came.... and yes, someone mentioned the Yokohama tyres slip? They do, on a slow curve, run over some metal plates between bridge sections and you feel the car do a slide.... would hate to hit one of those big metal plates they use in Sydney for covering repairs, especially in the wet.

the bigger the wheel, aslong as the tire diameter remains very close to the original tire, improves Fit handling more than anything else. The lower profile, like 55, makes ride rougher as the tire 'springiness' decreases.
15" are better, 16" even better, and 17" really are.
To give an example, if the original tire is 175/65x14 with a diameter of 22.95"(583 mm) then a 17" wheel with 195/40x17 tires will have a diameter of 23.14" (588 mm), close enough to not have problems with speedo/odometer errors or mpg, Most goods 195/40x17 tires are better than original and surprised they weigh less, typically 16 lb (7.3kg) vs 14" 17 pounds (7.7 kg) which helps both mpg andperformance.
PS the weight of the tire matters 4 times more than the weight of the wheel so put your efforts where it counts most..
PS a 195/55x15 tire has an OD of 23.44" and a 185/55x16 of 24".
And stay with an offset of 45 to 52 mm for any wheel you get.
PS the 17" really look great too.
good luck.

Hi
I've tried to look through this thread but there are just so many posts... and Google is no help to me. I hope this is a fairly easy thing to answer!
I have a 2010 Fit Sport running the regular sport tires and rims.
I want to swap my sport rims for steel ones (long story) but apparently there are no steel rims that will fit the tires that came with my car. The other option is to buy new tires and steel rims that fit them. Sigh.
My simple question is: what is the best size tire and rim that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I know 15's are cheaper than 16's. I am just looking to make sure that changing the size of tire doesn't screw with my speedometer, making sure nothing rubs etc.
Suggestions? Please and thank you

I looked into that, but the 175 65 R15 that come on the base fit are expensive. I talked to a Honda parts dude at my dealership and he quoted me around $900 for tires and rims :/
I ended up calling around for prices and one tire place I've bought from before told me that 185 60 R15 should fit no problem and they are more cost efficient.
I called Honda back and asked him and he reluctantly told me that yes the size should fit. I made sure to ask him if that size would a) mess with my speedometer or b) void my warranty because they are not the specific recommended size and he very reluctantly told me that he didn't forsee any problems
So does anyone run 185 60 R15 on their Fit? Is this a good solution for me? I want to be absolutely sure that the size won't throw off my speedometer or cause any problems with rubbing.
Also, anyone know who I would call to get a concrete yes or no answer in regard to my warranty? The Honda dude didn't seem totally sure of himself...

175 by 65 profile gives 113.75 mm height.
185 by 60 is 111 mm height
Which gives you slightly less than 3 mm difference from rim to edge of tire, or about 5.5 mm difference in overall diameter.
Would it affect the speedometer and odometer? Yes, but its a pretty small effect.
185/60/15 gives and overall diameter of about 23.75 inches, which is a quarter inch less than stock Sport tires, so there shouldn't be any rubbing issues (unless you were already heavily rubbing with stock).
As for the warranty... shouldn't be a problem, but some dealers can be sticklers.

I can get you aluminum 15" wheels and a Yokohama Avid Envigor for 788.00 with sensors. The only additional charge is shipping. They come into you mounted and balanced and ready to go.
If I can help let me know.

I have a 2009 Sport. I currently have 185/55/R16 tires. Will a more widely used tire work?

See the pictures of my tires near the end of this thread.

I
thats the most expensive way to do it...just call some salvage yards and see if they have any non-sport Fit steel rims (15"). Most likely they do...$60 each i bet.
My wife dented a 15" rim on one of our cars several years ago...got a new perfect rim for $20..with a bald tire. But all I wanted was the rim.

Hi all,
Just joined this forum, and wanted a little help with my 2008 Honda fit Base model (similar to the Jazz not the newer version).
I wanted to begin a transformation of my car to suite me better. I've tried to read some of these post but like someone said earlier "there are soo many posts".
I was wondering what an optimum size tire would be for the fit, especially if I want to race it later on or on weekends on a track. I'm looking to upgrade the suspension and then change the tires. It appears like the 185/60-16 are a better choice but am a little unclear. My main focus is for racing and no wheel rub because I'm a college student and like the turning radius. I'm not into the wheels for looks but performance and agility for I commute every other weekend about 105 miles from school to home.
Thanks!

Your "not the newer version" is GD vs GE, with yours being GD.
What might be confusing you is the fact that the USDM Fits have extended nose and tails, with design differences in the bumper.

I would actually look at a 205/50R15 or 195/55R15 in a tire like the Dunlop Star Spec. Then go for a light weight wheel like the Enkei RPF1 with a little negative camber and you are ready to go.
If I can help let me know.

Jim, edandekar's European Jazz has the smaller than USDM 1300cc engine which makes me think he might be better off with a lighter tire than the Dunlop Star 195Spec. I have Enkei RPF1 wheels that I bought from TireRack with 195-55-15"s Conti Pro Contacts which was said to weigh 15lbs at the time 2 years ago in the specs. The combination reduced a tremendous amount of weight and changed the car for the better in so many ways that I consider it to be the best single change I've done to my car.. I have since tweaked the engine power a bit with the addition of a supercharger kit that at first 5 PSI boost , now 10PSI and can see that I will need stickier tires after I do some drive train upgrades first. When the car was stock I was very pleased with what I now have, with the power my car now has I can benefit from stickier tires where when my car was stock the reduced unsprung weight and rotating mass yielded more of a performance advantage..... When I went to pick up the mounted wheels and tires in town at the UPS store when they arrived, the rather small middle age woman that worked there told me my "tires" had came in.. She had moved the boxes after they arrived there and was amazed when I told her that there was wheels and tires in the boxes.
