Lightest Wheels

I was wondering what the lightest wheels for

15s
16s
17s

I heard SSRs weighed like 8lbs each.. but are there any that are lighter?
Also does anybody have a link to the company thats prodcuing the carbon wheels ; they were at SEMA last year.

The best place I have found to research this information is

WHEELWEIGHTS.NET

I don't have a link to the carbon fiber wheels, and can't even remember the name of the manufacturer, but do remember they cost more than $1,800 per rim.

I just got the 15X6 SSR type c (competition) They do In fact weigh 8.35 lbs according to my digital scale.
AND I can really feel the 36 lb rotational weight reduction. The stock rims felt like hauling boat anchors down to the basement for storage I think only a Racing Hart wheel is lighter. The new Volk RE 30 is probably right in there weight wise also.
** Note to get the 15s to fit you have to machine the caliper brackets

I think black RS Watanabes will look nice on black/SSM/red/white Fit. I will prefer something in 14" or 15" w/ offset that sticks further out.

At least they're not as common, u don't see them around all the times.

Nice! Are there instructions on how to fit those wheels (i.e., which parts to machine). Also what offset are those SSR-C and where did you find them. Tire rack seems to only have 16" and 17" wheels for the Fit.

Thanks

Agreed, SpoonEK4. Watanabe RS's are one of the nicest kicks around.

However, as subtle and tasteful as they are, they're probably incredible thief magnets for those who know their JDM stuff. Might be the reason why they're not commonly seen.

Makes me wonder if anyone's put out a survey of most-stolen aftermarket wheels.

Most of the work needs to be done to the brake caliper brackets.
I machined about 90 thousands of an inch off the back of the bracket where it bolts to the strut.
Next I machined about 65 thou off the part that looks sort of like a horse shoe on the front of the bracket. The horse shoe part I am talking about partially encircles the brake disc hub.
Then I used a die grinder and took a tiny bit off the caliper itself right where it could touch the back of the horse shoe part.

Sounds more complicated than it is, but still not a job really for someone who is not fairly well acquainted with brakes. About any machine shop could handle this. The wheels are 38 offset and TR had plenty of 15's in stock at aprox $299

These are the FL-II which are specifically produced for the origional Mini.
