Advice needed for All Terrain Tires on a GE8 Sport 16"

Looking for advice on AT tires on my 09 GE8 Sport. I drive a lot of desert and rocky areas and would like to get something that can handle sharper rocks and looser grounds. I had a 2018 Ridgeline that did great but was mostly overkill for where I was going.

Currently looking at these but Americas Tire's website says they won't install them unless they are the same exact size as OE: Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail P 205 /70 R16 97H SL RBL | America's Tire (americastire.com)

However, I will still call to see if they can do it. I had Toyo Extensas recently installed on my GE8.

Will 205/70R16 fit on my Sport 16" wheels without rub? Does anyone have experience with 70 height tires?

I don't think that tire will fit without major bodywork modifications.
Even if it did, the greater size and weight will dramatically/negatively change the way your car accelerates (especially with an A/T, but if you have a M/T be prepared for frequent clutch changes), brakes, handles, and rides.
Sometimes the Fit may not be the answer to the question you're asking.

There is a very good chance that those tires will not clear due to height since you'll have 20% more sidewall than the accessory tire Honda offered for the Fit (in 205/50R16).

Do some digging around in the suspension threads. There are several folks that have done lifts though I currently don't recall their entire setup.

MAYBE you'll luck out with a TeraFlex 30mm front strut spacer and ZE2 Insight rear springs to get a 1 inch lift then you might have reduced rubbing but again, I'm not certain.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely move away from trying to put a 70 tall tire on the stock rims. I would prefer not to modify the suspension as well. I considered the Dunlop Winter Maxx tire for my use since it's in OE size but worry that I won't get even 30K miles out of them in SoCal driving. That's the only OE option I have in mind right now. I'm open to switching rim sizes down to 15" too but haven't seen any AT tires in that size on America's tire either. Any other suggestions?

The smallest I've seen is a Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail in the size of 205/60R16.

Its designed for smaller crossovers and small SUVs but seems like something that could be made to work on the Fit.

Again, I'm unsure that it would work at stock height but has a better chance of clearing compared to the 205/70R16. I plan on running it on a beater Fit of mine but will be lifting it.

I don't see 205/60R16 available here: Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail | America's Tire (americastire.com)
It's only available as 205/70R16

I definitely wouldn't mind being the Guinea pig here if the 60 was available.

Please keep me posted! Do you have a thread on this? Or would it be best to just follow your profile and get notifications that way?

The hyper link in my previous post should lead you straight to 205/60 version on Tire Rack. You might be able to call in and special order them through your preferred Discount Tire though since the size does exist.

I do not have a thread on the beater Fit that I'll be doing this to yet. Just haven't had the time and been sporadically working on it without taking pictures. That may or may not change.

after some research online, I found them on Amazon as well. I was able to contact America’s Tire and they said they can also have a special order placed for me as well. I look forward to our projects and will get back here when I can get my hands on a set too. Although I just had the new Toyos installed this year…but I think I’ll have them worn out by the end of 2025…they’re 400 UTG tires and I average 13K miles a year driving off road, commuting and spirited backroad driving.

Thank you for the advice Hootie!
