Yeah, as my daughter thinks she can't live if she doesn't get the new Accord when it comes out, a Fit is not for her. I think when gas is five dollars a gallon as it is sure to be before long, I'm going to be happier with my 2009 fit than she will be, in a car she can't afford to go anywhere in. Especially if the new engine gets the observed gas mileage that some of the foreign sites say they saw in their reviews.

The CVT mileage has been improved but the M/T is still slightly better, from what I have read....

I believe that 46 m.p.g. figure is for the 1.3 L engine, 44 m.p.g for the 1.5 L engine

my pictures of the 2009 USDM Honda Fit from the NY Auto Show last night, the front looks disgusting, it's like they just stuck the EP3 front on...

I would substitute "bit optimistic" with a single word: fantasy.

It may not be that diff. from the U.S. model but maybe someone is going to the Vancouver Auto Show this weekend and can report if we still get 3 versions in Canada.

And maybe a diff. color than RED ! LOL

Well, it is not giveing this numbers automaticaly, but the CVT is provideing the possibility to reach such numbers.

With my 05 CVT model, i did just drive 20,000miles (32,296km) and did use 1895.8L gasoline.

This is 5.87 L/100km or 17.036 km/L or 40.07 mpg

It could be better, since my working way is daily 4 x 5km, a lot of the distance is done in the warm-up sequence of the engine!

I'm sure that mileage like that is more than possible given the right conditions. The thing is many drivers either live in areas where those optimistic estimates are unachievable or they lack the discipline to attain the mileage estimates. That's why the 2008+ ratings are so much worse for most vehicles.

Personally, I think I could coax better mileage out of it than the ratings would suggest*. I've been experimenting with different routes for my commute and found an enjoyable one that includes some decent curves, relatively low traffic, and only 5 miles of highway. I've been able to get my 2006 Nissan Frontier 4cyl/5speed >25mpg consistently, which is greater than its 2008 mileage ratings (19/23) would otherwise suggest.

*unless I decided to hoon around like a fool...

I've always thought the new Fit design was very Mercedes Benz A-class-esque. MB is doing an update of the A-class, but it and the new Fit will still look very similar...

... and very sweet.

that is one of the main reasons i bought a fit. i went to europe and saw the A classes and fell in love with them. the fit looked alot like them so aesthetically i was sold. i dont think the new fits (jdm ones included) look anything like the A classes.

If anyone is interested, automobile magazine has an amazing brief article about the '09 fit. But more importantly they have high-res shots of the interior and exterior.

Look at the profile (single-plane hood and windshield), the upward raked window lines, the shape of the tail lights, the curvature of the roof, etc. It looks MUCH more like the Fit redesign than the old Fit does.

It appears to have lost a bit of rear head room in exchange for style and increased rear legroom. The A-pillar looks thinner, which should address people's visiblity complaints and the interior is of noticeably higher quality. Side-by-side like this, the 09 looks better than the 08. People might argue the 08 looks better, but it looks old-man-ish. The 09 looks like a combination of an EP3 and the 05-06 RSX.

Can't wait for a KNOWLEDGEABLE reviewer to look at one and with real numbers compare to 08 and older. The video above is pretty clueless. The front A pillar extension according to him resulted in more leg room in the back seat and my rear storage room.

Someone by this idiot a tape measure..............

I home Consumer's reports has one scheduled for review. They will show stuff know body seems to look at. There Dec 2006 review was the #1 reason I picked a Fit for my next car.

Very interesting... lots of little changes, but amazing at how similar the two are. Lots of little changes here and there do change the look, but any given view the changes are relatively subtle.
