fit sport auto

so at work today my boss give me a predelivery inspection on a SSM fit sport. i walk up to the car look inside and i was like ahh its auto. i drive a 5spd sport and always thought the auto would not be fun to drive. actual on my road test i think i had more fun with it and the paddle shifters then my own fit. gave me a whole different perspective on auto fits

not losing much to the torque converter when theres not much to start huh?

lol jk
I love my Sport AT, I do sometimes wish I had MT but then get stuck in traffic and that thought is quickly killed.
at least this trans is much better than my Subaru's was.

I have a lowly base AT and I've been impressed with the AT on the fit so far. I've gotten 32mpg per tank mixed driving so no complaints there. As long as I'm not pushing it, the AT does a nice job of keeping the rpm's low. It also downshifts if the car senses I'm doing some hard braking which really adds to the ability to get this car stopped quickly when necessary.

It does downshift a little earlier than I would when sensing a need for more power which makes hypermiling more difficult with the AT. The lower RPM at highway speed makes up for some of that IMHO. When I it's time to teach my kids to drive on the AT, I'll be glad I made the tradeoff though. Not having to constantly shift in traffic is great too!!

I picked up my Fit Sport AT last night. I'm rather happy with the auto. My last 3 cars were MT but its nice not to have to worry about it. My Girlfriend cant drive stick either, so I dont get stuck driving if I'm tired. We also car pool to work so if I dont take lunch, she can still drive somewhere. As far as shifting too soon. . .I just got it, but it does downshift on highway hills that I would not downshift on. The paddle shifter helps with that. . .as well as the cruise contol.

60+ miles in traffic a day for me = love for the AT. If I had a shorter commute I would've gone MT. The paddle shifters do add to the fun factor...& I'm experimenting w/ "s" mode only mileage....

**I can't wait until Fri. evening>>>>I finally get my car back!!**

thank you for that post!

i hate how everyone is always talking trash about the AT. seriously, i came from am '88 crx si with an engine swap, and i absolutely love my AT. it still feels sporty enough when you're driving it, but you get the added bonus of being a little more lazy

Try and safely practice left foot braking while keeping revs over 2K rpm with your right foot and you will discover a whole new dimension of A/T Fit "performance"! Pedal shifter further gives you a control edge.
On corner exits you will leave a lot of MT cars in your dust!
There is very few drivers on the road that truly know how to heal and toe to keep things even!
