Since I intend to see a track day, YES. HPS would be great if it was just AutoX and daily use... Not comfortable also taking those to the track. If my white daily wheels turn bronze and my brakes screech at low speed, BECAUSE RACE CAR

At worst if they just begin to annoy me, I'll get a set of HPS's and swap in the +'s at the track

Last event was the 11th. Out of 30 cars in our class finished 10th. Mind you the class is a 4 cyl. class, normally aspirated. Thats the only rule other than street tires. Our Fit has a Progress sway bar and sticky tires, thats it. We beat our fair share of Miatas, Scions, etc. Some wonder why the Fit! Most of the top 4cyl. cars are modded out. Our background is 40yrs. racing motorcycles.

Q: So those of you that autocross, why don't you use an LSD?



Unrelated: was always underwhelmed with Hawk HPS, crappy initial bite, don't want to run HP+, what's a ninja to do?

$1000 for the LSD + installation. We do experience a bit of wheel spin in the upper rpm's but it seems if we reduce air pressure most of this dissapears. Sometimes lots of wheel speed keeps the engine in the fat part of the power range. Burning rubber's very smelly and just a few lbs. reduction make most of this go away.

Also, it does add weight

Furthermore, if your running in Standard SCCA Solo classes, adding an LSD to a car that otherwise does not have one jumps you to a class where you have unrestricted intake tracts (Think ITB's) and gumball sticky 315mm Hoosiers on custom 3 piece mag/alum racing wheels... Not to mention a slew of possible weight reduction items. Street Prepared is a neat class, but at that point those cars tend to be backed off trailers...

My tires/wheels package arrived this afternoon
I installed them immediately and here is what I found after driving the car:

Amazingly fantastic!!!

It is just amazing what light wheels and sticky tires do!

So price limitation and classing restrictions. If this was not an issue would you run an LSD and why or why not?

I would if I began to encounter tire spin/traction issues on corner exit... So far no where near enough tq in the low end to worry me

If my new exhaust, pulleys, and re tune get me some how magically into the 125+ whp range I MIGHT have that issue, but I highly doubt it

op the best way to set up a car and learn from it is stock . then add parts here and there to change little by little. every driver is different and 1 set up might work for 1 guy and a totally different set up would work for another guy. getting the exact same lap times.

in my opinion if ur on track and getting wheel spin then yes i would do an lsd thats assuming your tire pressure and temp is good.

my fit gets a ton of wheel spin on 2nd gear exits, i have 131 to the wheels and about 2350 now with me. sometimes i have to half throttle till im straighter out of the corner. also ive had some good luck with leaving it in 3rd gear around 3500 rpm intead of the 2nd gear 5000 rpm. even though the corner feels slower and it is a 1/2 second at least im saving tires and not heating them up too much to save the grip on the high speed coners. being fwd cant lose front grip. taking from 1 corner to give to the other.

EXCELLENT real world Info from Previc93! I agree 100% on learning from the begining with your ride and then adjusting it to "fit" your style

I was more so doubting I would make more than 120whp than getting wheel spin I know a few folks in the one hundred teens range that were beginning to struggle. Heck, I will be happy if I can finally break the 100whp barrier and ecstatic if I crack 105!!!

How many of you guys have both progress rear sway bar and swift springs ?

How do you like the combo?

I Have Both But Custom Spring Rates And Coil Over Adjustable Dampers. Im Running 10 K Front And Rear And I Also Have Front And Rear Sway Bar. Im Getting New Spring Rates Soon. Gonna Go With 18K Rear And 13K Front.

This combined with the Aero actually sounds really "neutral" to me.

I am running 8K Front and 10 K Rear with only the progress rear bar. Great for rotation at AutoX

Interesting... More rotation? With spring rates that high, do you need the front sway? I know track setup is different than AutoX. What have you done for alignment specs?

-2.6 Front And -1.8 Rear. More Rotation Is Best With Fwd So It Is Point And Gas Out.
