Im still working out the claim with vw the car was a lemon big time, subframe and suspension bolts kept backing out long story short one day one went got in a wreck there saying I was racing the car way to hard. I did put a bigger turbo on but w-/e
had minor damage to body car was deprecating quickley wanted out of the problem so I traded it I think I will be less upside down in say 5 years with the fit than a 09gti besides
I have 1 race car already don't need 2

Its not a race car in the sence you wish to define.
But it is at the same time. And it now comes in painted form.
But this is a fit forum
And I sould put a fit in my signature not a ek
However I haven't taken fit pics yet

12 second cars aint exactly slow.. and at 119mph through the traps it sounds like with a driver mod it could be in the high 11's

Guesstimating the weight on your EK... that trap would put you in or around the 350fwhp range.

What was your 60' time?

This guy knows his shit! Were gona get along real good. Just north of 350whp and I'm doing it on journal bearings bud 12+psi AND at 4500ft elevation.

Driver mod lol I will entertain that.

Some full on slicks would not hurt either, the 60 foot/t1 time was 1.841

Sol

We'll never know the full truth of what exactly happened to his fit, since not many others have had the same experience but here it is:

his subframe right above his shock tower on his passenger side tore to the extent that you could see two inches of his coilovers.

Many claim it was a combination of spacers, hard coilovers, suppa duppa dropped and cambered fit.

There were also rumors he hit the only pothole with the above setup. Its possible since we drive on the same roads.

So for that reason 25% firmer than stock springs and some OEM gas filled replacements are good enough for me....I hope.....

Theres no subframe above the shock towers. That was the metal comprising shock towers stressed to the point of tearing because of the angle and forces created by his particular suspension geometry.

Agreed! But would the clutch/trans/cv shafts survive the slicks? lol

Cutting mid 1.8s on street tires is not too shabby, are you leaving on boost? Or rolling into it feeding the clutch out?

It's nice to have someone else interested in pushing these little 4 bangers

Well let me be completley honest I was at 2.4 60foot on street nittos.
I borrowed a friends dot slicks and landed that 1.8 60foot
Launching all out. They still spun and they were terribley undersized.
They were 14" I believe. A full slick I could only imagine what I could do. I now run 16" re11 street slicks but I'm yet to put a pass down on them. I am paired with a close ratio LSD an axles rated for 500hp

A 26" MT or M&H with, say 15psi or less should hook and go! And you'll get more mph out of 1st gear compared to the likely 24.x" rubber that usually ends up on 14s

Fitdeez's situation is odd. I've been dumped on coilovers for 30k miles and I have no frame issues to speak of.

To the OP, just get coilovers. A 2-inch drop on nearly any decent (and cheap-ish) coilover set-up will work optimally and are dampened well enough to be fairly comfortable on a daily-driver. Obviously if you want a drop it's gonna be uncomfortably stiff to a point so you'd have to compromise somewhere..

I must be the only person on FitFreak that replaced aftermarket springs with coilovers to raise the car higher off of the ground... I can drive places now that I would have bottomed out on even with the stock springs and shocks now... I really like my car a lot more with it like it is now. If I put smaller diameter tires on it I can raise it up a little higher..
