ooh i had the same problem

kenchan suggested adding more preload to the spring and tightening the nut at the top of the strut holding the spring hat down. NO MORE NOISE

^^Try this!!!

I had this sound when I installed springs on my xB. The top strut nut wasn't tightened all the way. Re-installed with more spring load and walla no more sound =)

are you sure the bearing the strut top is there? not sure how the Skunks install but make sure the bearing is there. If its there and seated right replace the strut mount/bearing. When the bearing binds up the spring pops when you turn back and forth.
