Cutting springs?

So ive seen a few Fits lately dropped on "chopped" after market springs.
Meaning, basically they are cutting the springs to give the car a lower look.
Does anyone know the effect doing this has on the springs, or the car? Is it at all bad for the springs, or unsafe?
Thanks for any info.

Tyler

Don't cut springs man. It is horribly dangerous and pretty ghetto IMO.

Yeah, i had a strong feeling that is was NO GOOD for the springs or the shocks. Thats why i made this thread.

Worth it just to save for coils IMO.

Especially for progressive springs, you'll kill the spring rate. Doing it on stock suspension will also reduce the length of travel of your shocks.
