Mugen Sports Suspension?

Anyone on here have this setup yet? not much info on Kings ... heard it's about a 1" drop or so.. knew someone that had this on their Ep3 and it drove really really nice.. wouldn't mind dishing out the $ for something that's relatively "high" (not looking for major drop) and slightly higher spring rates than stock..

I'm considering it strongly. I'll have to check into them.

ya.. may not be best "bang for your buck" but it'll do the job and more.. I'm not lookin' to get coilovers and take em off every winter and stuff... wonder if we have to mod the suspension or car to have it fit on the NA fits?

Mugen Sport Suspension

I have a story that relates to that suspension. I recently meet a local fit owner to pick up the Mugen header. When I met with him he told me he had the Mugen sport suspension on his car and was looking to sell it to upgrade to the T1R coilovers. Since the Mugen sport suspension was what I was looking to purchase I told him I would greatly appreciate it if he would contact me once he got the T1R set in. Two months passed and recently I saw him posting his T1R set for sale. I asked him how come he was selling his new set of coilovers, which by the way only had like 100 miles on them, he told me that the Mugen suspension was way better in terms of delivering grip and response. I'm still saving up to get my own set. Good buy in my personal opinion

so you didn't end up getting his set then I guess? did you see his car while he had the Mugen's on it still? how did the drop look?

No I wasn't able to pick up his set since he put the Mugen Sport Suspension back on. I never did see his car with it on, but he did tell me that the drop was very modest, about 1 inch in front and back.

intersting... so he went from Mugen to T1R back to Mugen.. says a lot about the suspension setup.. albeit not coilovers and expensive, but a setup that is "better" with a modest drop is what I'm looking for...

you have a link or somethin to the 5-way adjustable ones? the non-adjustable ones are about an inch drop, and the way it's setup I think it'd still be a decently smooth ride, yet sporty

wow ... nice.. just dampening adjustment it looks like? I can't tell if it's like the original mugen sports suspension or coil-over type setup.. I'm sure some sorta modification would have to be done to fit the NA fits

I actually ordered that set from king on yesterday. They havent sent me an email stating that it isnt in stock, so looks like I should be receiving it in about a weeks time. I'll be sure to post pics. Also from the pictures on their site the suspension should be ride height adjustable.

did they say it was a direct bolt on? or do you know if it is? or they will mod it? I ordered mine non adjustable Mugen Sports Suspension, but may be in interested in this new one... for only a few hundred more it may be worth while to have height/dampen adjustments

Canadian R32: The non-adjustable ones are good enough for you IMHO.

If you check all of King's postings they clearly state that they make all the changes necessary to run the suspension on the USDM fit. Since the old Mugen sports suspension required upper mount bolts to bolt on to the chassis, I am pretty certain they would make the same modification to this suspension as well. Clayton from King seemed pretty adamant that they take care of all of this before it leaves their shop. Also canadian R32, you and I probably feel the same way in our cars about having only the best stuff for it. I actually looked again at the suspension and it looks like you are right, it only has a dampening adjustment. I could swear the strut looked threaded. Regardless I don't that I would've been satisfied with the suspension if it wasn't the best Mugen had to offer.
Thanks,
Tom

I'm sure they will be.. I would probably even get away with just dropping the car on so gf210's or eibach's or whatever.. but was looking for a suspension setup that had matched springs/shock combo that weren't coilovers.. I'm just thinking that adjustable dampening would be that much better

ya, I do want the "best" for my car.. but at the same time, it's kind of relative what "best" is.. for some people, a coilover setup would've been "better" for others even the regular Mugen Sports Suspension would've been more than enough.. I already have more sposts suspension on order and I'm not sure if I can/want to change to this new one.. in many ways it is better because you can at least adjust the dampening.. but if you can't adjust the height then what would the drop be? cuz that was the biggest reason I went with the older one cuz it was a nice mild 1" drop and the ride/comfort factor was compromised that much, and it added a ton of performance over stock

In terms of the difference in the suspensions, I am pretty sure the only real difference is the dampening adjust which in my opinion could be quite useful if you plan on going into motorsports (ex. autox or even just testing it out at a drag strip.) With the ability to adjust the dampening of the front and rear you could effectively change the way the car rotates in corners or the way the weight transfers when launching from a stop. Although good for the track you might want to go to a more mild setup on the street. If you only plan on driving it normally I would say the standard mugen sport is perfectly fine, but if you are looking to squeeze that extra amount of tunability out of an already well set of struts/ spring combo then I would highly recommend shelling out the $400. Even if you are not sure, it wouldn't be a bad idea to just go ahead and upgrade, it would be a shame if you wanted that extra adjustability down the road.
