Spongy Brakes

I have noticed recently that while stopped, I can push the brake pedal down until it stops against something solid. The brakes have always had sort of a spongy feel, but being able to push the pedal to the floor is disturbing, to say the least. Granted, it requries more pressure than it would take to pull the car down to a stop, even at high speed, but I've never had a car where It was even possible to push the pedal down to where it stops like that.

I am planning to take the car in to the dealer soon for a 7500 mile tire rotation, and I'll get this checked out, but I'm curious to see if anyone else has noticed this, also.

I had an old Acura Integra that did that. The pedal would melt all the way to the floor AND I would have little to no braking. This only happened when the weather was really hot and I had been running the car for a while. It turned out the brake master cylinder had corroded and the brake fluid was "bypassing" the master cylinder. I doubt your Fit had enough time to corrode, but there's something definitely not right if you can press the pedal to the floor.

Active your ABS system at a control enviroment, that should stiffen up the brake pedal. If it gets spongy again, you have air in the system that need to be bleed out.
