Looking for All Season Tires

Looking for All Season Tires
I have 45,000 miles on my 2007 Honda Fit Sport A/T and about 6mm of treadwear left. I drive my Fit as my commuter car about 110 miles per day. So far, I've been happy with the OEM Dunlops. From what I've read, a lot of people complained about the noise, but I can't complain as my previous vehicles have been SUVs. As I live in the Chicago area, I need All Season tires and I have never used Winter tires and have no plan to either. Surprisingly, over the last 2 winters, the Fit on the OEMs handled well in the snow.
Has anyone driven with Fuzion VRi?

since you uh drive that much arnt you more concerned about the mileage for the tire. i know costco tire center sells tires that are warrantied up to 85k miles. i mean they are michellins so they cant be that bad. uh,
for all season i think the goodyear rsa tires are good. i dont really run much all seasons. but i know that hankook has really good performance tires, i wouldnt doubt that their all season line would be great aswell.

Fuzion VRi $65 each 400 treadwear
Or
Grand Touring All Season tires-
Consumer Survey Results By Category
Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge $99 each 440 treadwear
Anything about 400 treadwear should work 50,000 miles. Just keep them at correct tire pressure.
Narrower tires will work better in snow but I did list one that was 205/50-15.
The more expensive tires above do a little better in snow and offer better handling than the less expensive tires.
The Grand Touring AS tire offers more comfort and longer treadwear.

^^ he's our tire guru.
one thing to note about the Ziex912's. they are decent tires with
lots of tread wear. they dont grip well in sub-freezing temps.
they do however work pretty well in 40F+ temps.

You live in Chicago like the OP, what would be your suggested tire of choice given the weather?
I lived in Chicago for 5 years and three winters had temperatures down to minus degrees and -80 with windchill. I ran stock Honda All Season tires (Dunlop) on my civic sedan and generic elcheapo All season tires on my Chevy Chevette. Naturally I didn't drive very fast when it got too cold and I was always careful. I'm sure the rubber was not gripping at all with the low temperatures. Actually most everything wasn't working too good at -80. I had to park outdoors.
If you look at some of the ratings from tirerack you will see that not all of the mentioned tires perform as well in the snow. If you want traction for winter pick something with decently high scores from owners-
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S
next level would be-
BF Goodrich Traction T/A V
Kumho ecsta ASX
Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge
By comparison you can see how well the Stock Dunlop SP31 A/S was rated by customers at tirerack:
Dunlop SP31 A/S
Looking at Passenger All Season tires for 195/55-15 only the Dunlop SP31 is found. If you change to 195/60-15 which is a little taller than stock at 24.2" you find the very highly rated and tested:
Goodyear Assurance TripleTred $92 each 740 treadwear
Good ratings for wet or dry handling, winter weather, good comfort and long treadwear.
Goodyear Assurance TripleTred

MINI-Fit you know me from the 'other' forum. i recommend
the AvidH4's and also the Sumitomo HTR+'s if they are offered in our
size.
i haven't tried much of the newer a/s tires...the latest being Ziex912
which grips like crap in sub-freezing temps.

Well guys, I'm still looking for the perfect All Season tires. I'm still leaning towards the Fusion VRi. From all the reviews, it seems like the best bang for the buck. I figure that no matter what tire I end up buying, they will only last me 2 years or 50,000 miles whether their warranties are 40,000 or 50,000+. Worse case scenario is if they do not perform well in the winter, then I can just buy winter tires if need be. I'm not planning on spending more than $450 to have these or any tires put on as I'm also in the market for new tires on my 2006 BMW Z4. The Bridgestone OEM Run Flat Tires on that are just horrible, so with the new tires, I'm looking to getting 18" or 19" rims. I'll definitely be purchasing the rims and tires from tirerack as they can mount and balance them and all I'll have to do is jack the car up, take off the old and put on the new. By the time it's all said and done, I'll be dishing out about $2,000 for both cars this spring/summer.

go with the yoko's that have have been reccomended, those tires are fantastic in the winter and they grip pretty good in the summer. plus, they should meet or exceed your mileage requirement.
