That's the sweetest thing of all: I changed only my driving. Gained the confidence to brake later and deeper into turns, making correct lines, then heel-and-toe downshift into the next bends.
Technically I also changed my seats (Recaro SRDs on Bride RO-type rails) but they're irrelevant in terms of engine and suspension.
Stock suspension's still pretty good, especially as this is only my second trackday. It's predictable, well-balanced, and it never feels unfriendly unless your technique is off. Grip is gained and lost progressively.
With more practice I'm told I can break the 58-second barrier, and even make it to 57s without changing anything on the car. By then maybe I should look into better brakes and rubber.

Thanks guys!
Okay got a follow-up:
Joined the Pitworkz Hongly trackday last Sunday (January 17, 2010), also at Subic International Raceway. Broke my personal best record again, with my car Aibo still in stock condition.
Photos by Edward dela Rosa.
I qualified for Bracket C (57-59.99 seconds)...and I eventually won second place.
Old personal best: 59.14 seconds
New personal best: 58.4 seconds
That's me with Alan of Hongly (a local garage). He gave me a trophy and a 4L can of FK/Massimo Super SS-X 10W-30 mineral oil. Can't complain about free oil right?
Just to give you an idea, here's the car that beat me and became champion in Bracket C: an FD2 Civic.
Given that FD2s here make 155 HP, I'm still mighty proud I bagged second with just 82 HP from my GD1.
