my sentiments exactly. i might wind up painting the grill a gloss black. i'm toying with the idea. then it will match the bottom. Not sure yet.

I don't think that it looks "riced out" or anything, but the idea about using screen to increase the opacity sounds good. Don't buy the hater feedback. Nice mod. I am sure that none of those folks would be so interested or forgiving in having their taste lampooned in a public forum.

Is that grill stainless steel? If not, then are you worried about rusting?

Actually i am not sure. I am gonna have the bumper off this weekend and either i will be painting it gloss black or i will clear it. either way i wont have to worry about it rusting.

Part 2:

Removing the lower grill, foglights, and side vents. Then i will mesh the entire lower grill end-to-end. i will trim away the foglight housing and move them a little closer together towards the center. They will be attached to the bumper permantely but it will be worth it IMO. If i need to change the bulbs i will get at them from underneath.

leonine, do you have something like the ScanGauge to measure intake and coolant temps? I wonder if your grill would help cool the radiator and the intake box since there is likely more air flow now.

i was thinking the same thing. Eventually i will get one and when i do i will put up some numbers such as idle, 30mph, 60mph, etc...

I would think so since the opening is now twice as large there should be more air flow. It should also help when i get my short ram intake from Injen or T1R (haven't decided yet). Can't use a cold air because of A/T and i would worry about water anyway. With the grill the way it is now the airflow should be similar to a cold air anyway.

I am leaning towards painting it black but no way is that badge going back on. I won't know for sure until the lower piece is done and i see how i like it. If i put a badge on it will be the red emblem.

I personally think it could be adjusted so that the holes don't look crooked. I have tried this before and it is something you might regret doing. After you paint it black you will get rock chips that will expose the metal underneath and after about a couple months your grilll looks like black with glitter sprinkles in the light.

Although I won't do i myself, I really like the idea. Clean job too. But like what others have said, please paint the latch.

Thanks for the tip. As this is my 1st time doing fab. i am not sure what the end-result will be like as far as painting. I just have the idea in my head and hopefully it will translate well onto my VBP canvas. You make a good point though.

Wow looks okay. But I can't believe you actually cut the bumper to do this... From the pictures on the top it looks crooked when you look at it straight on...making it look kinda ricey redneckish..."chicken wire" Also I hope you don't get much snow in the winter cause with a little icey rain and snow it's gonna be a pain in the rear cleaning it out... other than that to each his own...

Yes it is slightly askew but i am not gonna mess with it at this point. As far as the winter months we do get alot of snow but i am not worried about it. I am fully capable of living with any positive/negative consequences with the decision i made. If it is a bitch to clean then so be it.

Thanks for the input.

Nice effort but it's not my cup of tea.
