OEM JDM smoked tail lights + Mugen door sills + Leather wrapped steering (Milano Red)

Last week I received my OEM JDM smoked tail lights from Pole Position Products that I had purchased during their group buy. I got mine a little late, but it was very well worth the wait.

Like everyone who has installed these, you do need to make some minor modifications. I had to lengthen two sets of wires on the passenger side and one set on the drivers side.

The turn signal bulb fits with ease. However, the reverse light bulb socket does not fit perfectly. It can be stuck into the hole, but will sit there at an angle due to the legs not matching up with the holes. It does still sit in there though. I'm not sure yet what I will do about that though.

Here are some photos I took.

LED board

LED board inside tail lights on the left. Tail lights on the right do not have the board installed.

The LED board is screwed in using screws with a square head drive. Square head meaning that I could not use a Phillips head or flat head. The head to drive the screw in was a square. My friend had a spare Phillips head screw driver so we sanded it down until we got a square and used that.

The plug from the brake lights plugs into the back of this cover.

Some wires that were cut to extend them on the passenger side.

Extending the wires.

My car and as a comparison, MarTT's car.

A shot from the corner.

Interior shot of my Honda leather steering wheel cover and the Mugen door sills. I had to stitch the steering wheel cover myself. The fit is not perfect, but I think it looks ok.

Here is a close-up shot of the stitching where it does not fit perfectly. This is due to the fact that the cover was made for the base model which does not have an ergonomic steering wheel.

A full shot of the steering wheel. From a little farther away you can't even see where the fitment is not perfect.

Upcoming mods: JDM hazard button and JDM center console.

Nice write-up - it's all very nice. The taillights are slightly smoked, really just enough for my taste on this car.

That's the best I could do with the stitching since the leather steering wheel cover was not made for the Sport models. It doesn't fit well due to the Sport model's steering wheel being ergonomic. That's why I showed the pictures of the stitching.

I used some copper wire. I think it's called stranded copper wire. Don't use solid core copper wire. When you twist tie them together you can do it like how I did here:

This reduces the chance of the wires coming apart due to any shaking or vibration when you're driving.

Would have been a good idea to get a little solder on the wires. It ain't too difficult

True... I guess I could go back and add some solder. I wanted to put them on quickly and did it outside of my work so I wasn't around any outlets to heat up my soldering iron.

Maybe when I change out the 3rd brake light I'll put some solder on.

i've always wondered what parts are LED, obviously besides the main board. are there any non-LED sections to these tails?

The signal and reverse lights still use regular bulbs
