with the fits stock fuel system it leaves alot of room to remove it and mount a fuel cell in the trunk, this leaves a "small tunnel" for a drive shaft and with a small diff/rear end the fit could easily be rwd with a "longitudley" mounted engine, hell the l15 with a custom bell housing to a miata trans and miata rear end u could easily have a rwd "stock" looking fit, and im pretty sure emissions requirements dont care for rwd or fwd

well the gd4 has a custom fuel tank to make way for a rear shaft to travel to the rear since its an awd. so this is possible but I want to know why a B series engine?

why not k20?

It can be done. G-Force Transmissions and Long Shifters

It's a reverse rotation 5 speed with straight cut gears.

Edit: not that I believe the OP, just stating that RWD B series is possible.

I no it can be done, but costs outweigh benefit.

im mouting the engine in the rear of the car and putting a custom fuel tank under the bonnet to put some weight under the front of the car. im going for the b18 as the tuning bits are easy to get hold of and its cheaper then a k20. if all goes well then there is nothing stopping me change the engine again for something more powerfull

There were some twin engine Austin Mini set ups as well as Oldsmobile Toronados in the mid 1960s.. Lots of transverse mounted front wheel drive engines, drive trains and suspensions have been used on three wheeled motorcycles instead of the air cooled VW engines.. The Subaru engine (not transverse) and components on one I saw in a magazine back in the 1980s was built by an old guy in Phoenix that had mounted a turbo and reconfigured the ECU long before turbos were installed at the factory.

there are many mini kits where you can stuff a k20 or b18 into the rear for a rwd car.

people have done this with the the civic wagon.

I would like to see some pictures updates with this.

Now that I read that...while ambitious it does make sense.

And one thing to remember guys, he's in the UK, Fits (Jazz) go for next to nothing over there. He's not cutting up a 10k + car, he's cutting up a 3kish car.

That said, good luck OP, this could be cool if you go through with it.

There is a whole world of cars that 90% of the people in the U.S. will never know about... A lot of damned fools that have never been abroad have no idea how uncivilized our culture is and how many more choices that people elsewhere have that we don't.. I'm not just referring to cars either.
